No charge?

Some of you may know this already, so consider this bit of "news" to be a precaution for those of you who do not follow PS3 updates with righteous zeal.

PS3 Land reports that Sony has decided to not include a USB cable with their retail SIXAXIS controllers. As bad as this may sound to some of you, here's the light side of this bit, the retail PlayStation 3 package will contain one USB cable in the package. That means that at the least, consumers will have one included cable to charge controllers.

After market cables, for now, appear to be the only solution for consumers who want to charge multiple controllers at the same time. Perhaps Sony's expecting that their user base is  skilled enough to wire/custom-make their own USB cables to charge up their controllers... or something.

Not really a biggie, but still something to think about when you're planning your purchases. Those of you who are techy enough will likely say, "whatever, it's just a USB cable." or something to that effect.

yeah okay

If you have a PSP you have already got this cable as it's the same one to link to a PC. No biggie. Not like we are having to pay for a seperate battery and charger! eh? MS you bunch of money grabbing monkeys!

stevieb is right

Immediatly when i saw the usb port in the controller, i knew that the psp cable can be used. If only Sony said so too.

Should have included it though!!

Not too much of a worry if its a regular USB A / B Wire. A --> B implies one end with a the regular USB cable and one with a mini usb. Should have included it though!!

wow

if you dont have one of these cables yet then youve been in a cave for a few years. plus you can just get one at bestbuy.

Or maybe it's not really a problem

http://tinyurl.com/y85t8l These cables are starting from just 99 Cent! But it is not "A - B", that one is for e.g. connecting a printer, it is "A - mini B". Nonetheless a pretty standard cable.

Rrright..

Beside the USB cable,I heard the cell processor wasn't coming with the package also, i think it will be 200$ in extra to have it included...So to finally play a game on PS3 will cost 1000$. HAHAHA

..

this is hardly an issue...if people would just slow down and think...they would realise a charging cable will come with the console..why would you want 2?!? most gamers may buy multiple controllers...you really wouldnt want to end up with 3 or 4 cables...sony would be wasting money..and at the moment they really cant afford to.
by - 2006-11-16 15:20:15
so what is the issue?

Most of those cables are about 6' long anyway... just get a USB 2.0 compliant hub, so you have some distance then plug in as many mini-usb connectors as you want. It is a standard cable. Or for that matter if you bought a Razr or Slvr recently you could just use the charger to charge your pad. or plug it into your computer.... or you know. whatever

hmmmmmmmm

you think a phone charger with that usb plug will charge the controller? hahahah
by - 2006-11-16 18:58:09
Mother Earth thanks you, Sony...

Honestly, the Xboys are getting desperate for things to complain about.

Hmmm

I wonder if my RAZR phone charger will work? Its got the right usb plug...
