Rock Band - Image 1We've gotten wind of more developments regarding the rumored release date for Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3). After freaking out a lot of customers with an email stating that the game won't be arriving until 2008, Amazon.com has generated new rumors about the game's release date.

According to Joystiq, an "oops" letter sent out by Amazon to pre-order customers who received the email falsely stating that the game has been delayed contains the following line: "'Rock Band Special Edition' [Video Game], Estimated arrival date: 11/27/2007 - 11/29/2007."

Now, dates from retailers are not official, so we all have to wait for the official word from Harmonix on the game's actual release date. Also, no platforms were mentioned in the Joystiq report, but a commenter mentioned that one pre-order customer received a similar "oops" letter from Amazon listing the Xbox 360 version of the game as having a November 21 estimated arrival date.

Keep checking back here on QJ.NET for more updates.

Update: According to GameSpot, a Harmonix representative has confirmed that the latest Amazon.com listings for Rock Band are spot on. Both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 bundles of the game are currently listed for a November 23 release date and a price of US$ 169.99 each.

I'm going to wait for the PC release of Guitar Hero III. I can only imagine how many custom songs will be made for it, which will give it way better value than Rockband or Guitar Hero on the consoles. And since hooking your PC up to the TV in high def is simple, wont have to worry about using a smaller PC screen to play either.

# what justifies 170 bux?Jasper1605 2007-09-28 11:57
I don't know anything about this game other than it competes with guitar hero, but is there any reason for dropping 170 dollars into one game when it could be spent on 3?

the game only and use my GH2 and GH3 guitars since the other stuff barely interests me. That said; the setlist is incredible.

With this you get the game, guitar, mic, and drums in the set. So i can see the $170 cost, if you plan to play with friends it wouldn't be to bad of an investment.

Personally, that sounds like a losers errand. Getting together with your fake guitar and drums while another friend tries to sing... Why not just start up a real band with your friends. Rock Band was really a bad idea, its just taking the game further than it should have. Watching the demos of people playing really turned me off of this game.

# It's completely different.Twenty-Se7en 2007-09-28 20:18
It's a bunch of people playing a game - and they know that. Being musically inclined isn't something that is required. I've played guitar, drums, piano, and bass for many years. I picked up guitar hero 2 at a friend's place this summer. I had a laugh. Completely different from playing guitar, and took a little adjusting - but 4 of us played till the wee hours of the morning. Drank a good few beer, stopped for a couple matches in Fight Night Round 3, and had great fun.

No one has the illusion that this is anything like having a real band. It's just a multiplayer game with third party controllers that just happens to be great fun - and with the lack of hands-on games - simply makes its own place in video games.
