Untold Legends multiplayer and launch trailers

If you're a fan of the genre, then you'll like this game. If you're not, then you'll be skeptical. So let's go over some of this skepticism before we get to the videos of SOE's Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom.

The first video proves that the graphics are simple. Ah, yes. What most next-gen fanboys look at first. The graphics. Yes, the graphics are simpler than something you'd expect from a PS3 game ("It looks like a PS1 game ported to the PS3," says some people). But if the first thing you look at in an RPG is not story, roles, gameplay or whatever - if the only thing you consider is graphics - then RPGs probably aren't for you anyway. This is what a classic RPG like Diablo or Neverwinter Nights should have been - of course we didn't have the technology back then.

The second video shows that this is RPG hack-and-slash like it's never been done before. The pace and speed of the action is nice. Watch the second video (the multiplayer trailer). We like it. We like how the cape flows. We like how responsive the camera is.

Some valid complaints. They could have gotten better voice actors or better-written dialogue. Some of these people sound like they're embarrassed to say their lines. Although it's possible it's not the game that's at fault. It could just be a poorly-made trailer - you know how trailers take what is a dramatic line in the context of the story, but when taken out of context in a trailer, it just sounds silly and melodramatic.

While I agree with you, the entire selling point of the PS3 is graphics.

That's how they were/are justifying $600

Just saying

The $600 is justified in all the features the system has not just graphics. I mean count on the things PS3 can do, blu-ray, HDD upgrade without warrenty void, load up different OSs, the web browser, and more. There are plenty of amazing looking games coming out for PS3 (if that's all you care about). I'm going to be getting this game because it looks like a great action RPG with gameplay that will keep me playing (both on and offline) for a long time.

Well all, really mature.

First off, I'm a 360 fan, I'll admit it. Secondly, the writer doesn't HATE ps3, he's stating a fact. Third, its kind of ridiculous that a FIRST PARTY GAME, has *****ty graphics, and third party developers have to bring out the PS3s power. On 360, the games weren't incredible at launch (save PGR 3), but they looked alot better than last gen. The first video is EASILY doable on Xbox 1/gamecube, Ps2, I'm not sure about.

Sure the graphics aren't on par with the other launch games but its better then Xbox1 by far. The environment seems to be lacking but the character models are nice.

In terms of gameplay, thats what the development team focused on. They admitted it and it seems to have paid off.

So far in terms of the video, the Xbox, Xbox360 dont offer the style of gameplay this game offers. This game is suppose to have a very deep and lengthy single player experience and good multiplayer experience.

So far most Xbox360 games have been severely lacking in single player modes, GoW included for its very short single player campaign. this game was basically completed last year awaiting for the official dev kits and the system to launch. It was expected that the game wouldn't be using the full power of the PS3.

Still graphics aside, the game looks awesome to play.

# you know these people aren't RPG fansSpector 2006-11-14 16:47
You can tell from all the bashing of graphics these people are the ones who think Fable was the best RPG ever.

In any form of RPG it's great gameplay and story that triumph over anything. This game looks like it has the gameplay part for sure. All the people saying its crap are just like that guy who reviewed Neverwinter Nights 2, people who don't know about RPGs and shouldn't talk about RPGs.

# 1st: not 600, but 500$, 2nd: we PLAY, not WATCH you imbecilesenjutsu 2006-11-14 16:50
I never had a nes nor a snes, but I love RPG so while I was playing my ps1, I finished almost all snes RPG so I DONT CARE about the graphics if the rest of the game can back it up!

and anyway the game have beautifull graphics, a lot better than the last gen ( ps2/xbox/gc ), so shut up!

and nobody's "pwned" but you if you say the pc are always the best for graphics, because: yeah, and it cost around 3k$... and an xbox 360?, 100$ less than a ps3 for half the power... wow, what a bargain! you can even buy the "core" version without the hdd to save or play xbox games, wow, what a bargain again!

# sorry "All" but you are not pretty well informed...senjutsu 2006-11-14 16:54
and errr, NO, the graphics are a lot better than ps2/xbox/( HOW YOU EVEN TOUGH OF GC YOU IMBECILE ) graphics, it's around 2 times better than ps2 so I'd say around 1.7 times better than xbox1, yeah, and NO PGR on xbox 360 was NOT great, I mean, the tree were even in cross pictures...

check the sceenshot and you'll understand better:

# I hate Sony...Guest 2006-11-14 17:28
I hate Sony, but I think the ps3 is best...Why? Because they have RPGs, the greatest genre of games in existence. I hate the company, but they support the games that keep me alive... Onward O Playstation.

and if Sony follows the way of the PS2 it will be the console that keeps platforming alive and interesting too.

First, I don't see how my article DEFENDING a PS3 game makes me look like I hate the PS3 blog. Second, have you even seen my past PS3 articles? I'm always the one DEFENDING Sony. Other analysts keep screwing Sony, and I'm always trying to point out the bright side and how Sony will overcome!
