Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom - Video Interview

You know, watching this video interview you can't help but be struck by the amount of progress the guys from Sony Online Entertainment have made in the past few months with Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom. In the interview, Dark Kingdom's producer, Andy Sites tells it straight up like it is, when they first showed the game they received an underwhelming response from gamers, so they went back to the drawing board and knuckled down to make the game look and feel better, you have to give them props for the effort because they've come a long way. Suddenly Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom has gone from looking, well, franly, bland, to something that just might be worth owning on the system, especially if the multiplayer modes the team is keen on adding make the final cut (four player co-op, deathmatch, capture the flag, last man standing). All of a sudden I find myself looking forward to when the game launches on November 14th.

A positive PS3 blog. I'm glad that this game is progressing well. Much better than pre-E3. Alot of added new textures and lighting effects. Warhawk, Resistence, Motorstorm, Untold, should all be launch. I'll be busy come November.

the gameplay is heading the wrong way. The PSP titles should have been some kind of Diablo-2-experience but they screwed up really essential parts. Didn't play UL2 yet but the item system in part 1 was utterly flawed. You always could buy the best weapons from the shop, 100% of all drops and quest-rewards were pure rubbish, especially the "uniques". The skills were nearly all useless, especially with the fighter classes the best thing was just the normal attack.

The PS3 game is aimed to make the launch and from what i read, this is becoming even more a pure action game, less rpg.

I really hope Flagship will let Hellgate being ported to the PS3... *dreams*

Just to clarify that the date referred to in the game is the release date for the game, as stated at the end of the video interview.

Graphics look a little better on the video, such as the character design, but the gameplay so far does not look too compelling. I hope they correct this. Maybe worth a rental though.

This really proves to haters that incomplete games are just that, INCOMPLETE GAMES, just because something in development doesnt look amazing, doesnt mean it doesnt have the potential to later down the line. So many of the ps3 games at e3 were less than 50% done, who knows how great some of these games will turn out.

Just as #11 said, you shouldn't judge a game before it actually comes out because it can always get better. For instance, the new Tekken for PS3, I bet it will look much better when it launches.

Anyone who has played Champions of Norrath and Champions : return to arms, knows how great those two games were on the PS2, although I never really liked Ultima on the PC but the Champion series has been a real stunner. Looking at ULDK earlier was unbelievable for it looked really simple and shallow for the developers of the Champions series on the PS2, but now these new images are ultra hot, they certainly prov that PS3 titles are improving each day, and at launch, the stuff on the Blu-Ray discs are really gonna burn !

# ....it does look a bit betterhush404 2006-06-10 02:10
Yep it looks better then that ugly crap they showed offa few months ago.... but it still doesn't look like it'll compete (graphically) with any other PS3 title out there. I mean, look at lair, motorstorm or warhawk they all look amazing and this game (which is being made inhouse at Sony) looks like it could of been done on the ps2 or atleast the original xbox.

Technically that's not exactly accurate, despite sharing a name Sony Online Entertainment is not a 1st party Sony dev house. I's also argue that at present this game looks better than Motorstorm.

# SOE should be cannedGuest 2006-06-10 17:50
They have always made bad games, If theyre gonna make an action rpg they should use another sony team, not SOE.
