Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom Interview |
Ó

When asked about the storyline of the game, Mr. O'Hara said that in this PS3 goody, "you play a member of an elite squad of warriors in the Kingdom of Dureth. You're essentially Spec Ops for the kingdom; going off on dangerous missions abroad. The game starts right in the action with you bringing a final end to a barbarian incursion. Unfortunately while you've been away, the king has begun to experiment with dark powers. With external guidance, he has found a source of power in the suffering of his people. When you return, your homeland is a changed place. In order to save your kingdom, you'll need to betray your king."
Basically, the game isn't just about your character's physical prowess but it would also give you an idea who you are-- the type who follows the leader no matter what or the type who instigates change when you see that there's something utterly wrong about the scenario. Mr. O'Hara also mentions that it was very challenging to develop a game exclusively for the PS3. But it has its really exciting moments that are also very educational and applicable to their future projects.
He also mentions that they have plans on adding new and downloadable content. In his own words, "after the game ships, we'll create additional content for download. At this time, we have not announced what that will be." Pretty interesting.

Still shaping up to be something more then I thought it would be. Honestly though I don't expect anymore then a traditional hack and slash not unlike the champions series. I wouldn't pay full price for it but when the day comes that I can grab it for $20-$30 then I might consider it.
this game surely won't be better than champions of norrath ( the best game of the likes ), but I suppose it will be at leats better than the 1st on psp ( not good at all, not much to do, boring quests ). Anyway if the game support more than 5 characters this could be good... the thing is, with download content... it could be great! I mean, I suppose we'd have to pay for it with the micro-transaction system but I'd pay 1-2$ for a new or a package of new characters because you can finish the game another time if the character is not like the others, if the game takes 20hours to beat, then it add 20 hours of gameplay for 1$ ? But I hope they could add packages instead, I mean Another "turn" in the story you can choose, with new ennemies, 1-2 new characters, new items etc for about 4-5$ would be cool. Personally I'd like this game to be like champions of norrath games, with lots of replay value ( adventurous lvl 1-25, couragous lvl 25-50, champoins lvl 50-65, legendary lvl 65+ ) so we can replay the game on harder modes, and play online is essential there! "Kevin O'Hara: We will have a number of different modes to play including a cooperative story mode with up to four players online or two players same screen and some competitive mini-games like arena battles. That's about all we can say about it right now. " =D "Kevin O'Hara: We're really shooting for a pickup and play action adventure. Like we mentioned above, there's going to be a lot of tactics, combos, physics and environmental puzzles to keep the serious console gamer interested, but the non-hardcore player is also going to have a great time hacking and slashing. They will need to learn a bit more than button mashing, but the game has a comfortable progression where we teach you when and why to do more advanced moves." I just hope this is not only hack&slash... I hope you have a LOT of powers to use in different situations... they should do a mode for hardcore players who want challenge, and one for dump player who just want basic hack&slash, I want challenge!! and usefull with situations power!!
man I just read what I wrote... 4players online is really cool but 2 players offline? WHAT? champions had beatifull graphics ( for the ps2 ) and offered FOUR players offline!!! now that the ps3 can connect more controllers without adapters they're gonna put 2 players offline??? I hope they add 4 players coop offline!!
