UK online retailers have this very curious product page for Valve's Left 4 Dead. Why curious? Because the postings say that the title is also for sale on the PlayStation 3. Now, we've known all along that Left 4 Dead is coming to the Xbox 360 (also to PC). But we haven't heard anything about it coming to the PS3 as well until now.

The listings even provide release dates and all. GAME UK, linked below, pegs a generic 11/08 release date to the product, while Play.com has a more specific November 11 launch. However, Valve denies the reports as true. Says Doug Lombardi, "Currently, there is no PS3 version of L4D in production."

The game's been delayed time and again, and so it's not entirely farfetched that the reason for the delay could be that they were preparing it for a PS3 port. Couple that with Doug's recent appreciation of Sony's console, and we're all set to get this rumor mill on fire.

However, as we can elicit no confirmation or acknowledgment from the guys in the know, we'll have to suspend our belief on this one for now. Although you'd have to admit two product listings are temptingly persuasive.

Was never particularly impressed by L4D, but anything that further buttresses the PS3 lineup is welcome.

I'm starting to hate valve. They seem like they don't want anything to do with the PS3. We weren't even getting the Orange Box until EA stepped in.
