This November, all of the events that happened in Ubisoft's various Tom Clancy universes will come to a head in EndWar (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360). That's not all, though. EndWar is just the tip of the iceberg.

In a recent interview with Gameplayer, EndWar's lead AI programmer, Vinh-Dieu Lam, said that the upcoming RTS "acts as a basis for future tie-ins." In time, all of Ubisoft's Tom Clancy games will merge into one big gaming experience. A kind of Tom Clancy MegaGame, if you will.

It's not necessarily one single game that encompasses all of the Tom Clancy universes, however. It looks like each game will still be standalone, but what happens in one game could tie in to events in the next one:

...in the next versions youÂ’ll find, say, missions generated in the next Ghost Recon affecting the world map in the next EndWar. So maybe in the next EndWar you will need to attack Paris but before you can it may generate some sort of Splinter Cell recon mission or a Ghost Recon mission or things like that. But that is the direction we are looking at.

Sounds like a big marketing strategy to me. At this point, it seems quite possible that fans will have to buy all of the games in the Tom Clancy franchise to fully experience it, but I guess it's all up to how Ubisoft implements their strategy to reduce the possible gamer backlash.

Of course, this strategy also might have something to do with the Tom Clancy MMO they're working on, which could very well be the direction EndWar is heading. Barring the possible expenses, the thought of a massive gaming experience like this does sound very exciting.

What about you guys? Leave a comment and tell us how you feel about Ubisoft's plans.

I'm looking forward to hawx, and like the tie-ins in that.. as long as they don't, like you say, make it so you should buy everything to gain the full experience...but they are a company trying to make money - so no doubt they will.
