Ubisoft on Splinter Cell: Conviction PS3: There's always hope |
Ó
If you're one of those folks still praying for that time when Splinter Cell: Conviction heads to the PS3 even if it's a "true Microsoft exclusive", then fret not and heed the words of Ubisoft Montreal CEO, Yannis Mallat. According to him, "There is always hope."It's cryptic at best, but he does leave a tiny bit of room for hope that that day just might come. In an interview with Videogamer, Mallat said on whether or not Splinter Cell: Conviction might come to the PS3 that, "I can't predict the future. But it's good to hear that people who can't play Splinter Cell are willing to."
It's no outright confirmation, but if you wanna look at the glass as half-full, then it certainly is no absolute rejection. This is definitely a complete turn-around from their statements back in June when Ubisoft explicitly stated that they have no plans to have it on other platforms.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction is coming out exclusively on Xbox 360 and PC on February 26, 2010.

splinter cell was a great game last gen. now its not a big deal when compared to some of the current titles. I mean when u think of AA titles do u think splinter cell? or do u think assassins creed2, mw2, bioshock 2...n im just talking about multiplats
You can say that about MGS and MW2 since it's a Call of Duty game.
MGS still sets new standards to gaming for each game dood, SC doesnt do that...its a good series...but its not legendary like MGS
how dare you even compare those two lol
After playing it on ps2 i never liked the series i thopuhgt it was good and i grabbed a copy of doble agent but it was bad... Really Really bad. I could go and play now a bit more of it to tell you how bad is it.
I love the Splinter Cell series, and I'm very interested in how this new chapter is going to change the formula.
I hope they eventually bring it to PS3. It's like a slap in the face that it's released on my birthday, but I won't be buying it. :(
The CEOs at Ubisoft might feel pretty bad now.
First they think "PS3 isn't selling well, we don't need a PS3 version, it won't sell anyway."
Now they see the success of the PS3 Slim and think:
"Oh f*ck, the PS3 Slim is selling like hot cakes, we seriously need a port of SC:C."
Seems like the cheque of MS is less worth than the money they loose from not selling a PS3 version.
maybe a timed-exclusivity?..
Even though MS who probably bought off Ubisoft for SC. In the long run, PS3 and X360 would give more revenue. Could even double the money MS are giving.
Just like most of those "Exclusives"... I bet in a year or so we'll be hearing "So! It's coming PS3 side! Sorry we couldn't say anything till now!"
