Ubisoft's expecting a lot from Assassin's Creed 2 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC), especially since its predecessor holds the record for fastest selling new IP when it released. How much is that "a lot"? Yanis Mallat quantifies at the GameOn: Finance conference this week.CEO's Ubisoft Montreal said:
Better, bigger, and definitely opening a new realm in terms of how Assassin's Creed gameplay can be seen. I think that Assassin's Creed 2 will definitely show the work of a team that listened a lot to you guys. In how could we make this experience better, and the results are, in my opinion, really, really solid, astonishing [sic].
So why is Assassins' Creed 2 bigger and better than the first one?
Assassin's Creed 1 was, and still is, the fastest selling new IP, but it definitely had some areas where we could improve the experience. In the way we don't repetitively do the same kind of mission. If there's one thing we worked on, it's definitely killing the repetitiveness feeling, making sure that we're adding so much variety. Not just variety for the sake of variety, it is embedded into the game system, so that in a way each of your actions, interacting with the crowd or buying items or equipping yourself, has actual value towards your main goal [sic].
Assassin's Creed 2 is coming out on November 17th in North America, while Europe is getting it on November 20th.
