Far Cry 2 - Image 1

It seems PC gamers won't be the only ones getting the sequel to Crytek's Far Cry. Ubisoft has just announced that Far Cry 2 will be heading for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 home video game consoles as well.

Ubisoft, who acquired the Far Cry license back in 2006, has not yet given any additional details for the game apart from the stuff they've revealed about the PC version. The release is still hazy, although the company did throw gamers a teeny tiny bone with a nebulous fiscal 2008-2009 release date.

We'll be sure to bring you more updates regarding this title as soon as we get them, so keep checking back here.

» Hell yeah

I was so disappointed when they first announced that it was going to be a PC exclusive that I was actually considering putting a rig together just because of this game. Now I don't have to do that and I can save my self a ton of money. Not to start a console war or nothing, but I'm sure that it's going to be much easier making this game for the PS3 than it will be for the 360 seen as how they can install part of the game onto the HardDrive and stream it that way, plus I'm almost certain that this game won't fit on a single DVD 9. This will be the first multiplatform game that will prove the necessity of a high capacity disc format and a mandatory HDD. By the way I own both consoles. Peace

"Not to start a console war or nothing"

Oh of course not, why would you do such a thing. ;)

PS3 fanboys can now cross off their secret Crytek project off their exclusive list.

» No one ever said it was exclusive...

They are currently hiring programmers to get most out of the PS3, well the game is also for the xbox 360, but apparently they are developing separately using different development teams. As for Far Cry 2, it was never meant to be exclusive and have nothing to do the Crytek anymore....Crytek sold their baby long ago to Ubisoft, even the freaking engine Far Cry 2 uses is a brand new one developed by Ubisoft called the Dunia engine.

» Very Funny Idiotic Comment

first off, Crytek (EA) is not making Far Cry 2, Ubisoft owns the game as you can see from the title of this article.

from the rumors that ive read on the net, only rumors of Crysis to be ported on Xbox 360 are mostly debated.

Crysis actually announced they are cooking up something for the next gen consoles besides crysis.

read your facts right Fanboy!

there are lame ps3 fanboys, but dont expect everyone to be like that, there are also people like me and Geosondaman that observes what are real, fake and everything happening in the game industry.

» It better be the same as the PC version

The original Far Cry on the PC was drastically better and different than the console versions. The PC version had huge 3D islands that you could completely explore any way you wanted while the console versions had linear levels that only let you go in one direction for the most part. I thought the console version sucked big time compared to the PC one and if they do the same thing with Far Cry 2 I wont even buy it.

» HAHAHAHAHA

I can understand porting it to the PS3, but why even try to port it to a last-gen console like the 360? It'll just RROD instantly.

Leave real games to real consoles.
