TVersity v0.9.11.4: compatible with official PS3 FW 2.10 - Image 1This next one is certainly what we can call starting the new year right. The folks behind the nifty application TVersity  have just upgraded the media server to make it compatible with the latest PlayStation 3 firmware, FW 2.10.

For the uninitiated, TVersity allows easier access to users Internet and home media collection by letting them stream to and from the Sony console. The latest release brings the program up to version 0.9.11.4 and the changelog is as follows:
  • Transcoding
    • Transcoding configuration can now be done on the file/folder/url level, in which case it will supersede the system wide settings.
  • Customizable Menus
    • It is now possible to set the menus to be organized by folders only, this is in addition to the default menu organization and the custom one.
  • Devices
    • Turn off transcoding of AVI/DIVX (version 4 or higher) for the Sony PS3 (Divx3 is still transcoded) since firmware 2.1 can play them natively.
    •  AVI/Divx that do not play natively can still be manually configured to be transcoded. This for examples solves the PS3 problem with DivX files larger than 2 Gb.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Do not register a Windows shell context menu command for files (since it gets invoked when double clicking on file types that have no other handlers). The context menu command for folders is still kept since it has no undesirable side effects.
First time users may want to refer to Source link below for more details. It should direct you to the official homepage of TVersity.

» cool but...

windows media player 11 has built in media sharing feature that the ps3 can access easily. just turn it on and every DLNA compatible device can access shared media on your windows PC.

» you're an idiot

This is still for transcoding of media that ISN'T natively supported by the PS3...which your beloved Media Player 11 won't do.

Take a seat and don't talk till you have a clue.
