The PlayStation Blog has it that there have been a lot of folks asking for enhanced online trophy support for the PlayStation Network, and so they're responding to the demand with a lot of trophy love. With this update, everyone can now find out what a persistent completionist you are, that, or a measly bronze collector.

HereÂ’s what youÂ’ll be able to do:

  • View detailed info on your trophies on PlayStation.com
  • Compare your trophies with multiple friends and other PSN IDÂ’s
  • Compare details on trophies within each game
  • Track your progress to the next level against friends
  • See what trophies you have and what you still need to unlock for each game
  • Use the sorting features to plan your game domination
The portable ID has also been enhanced with trophy data, which will, in effect, take your portable ID with you to official game sites, social networks, and other third party sites. The feature basically makes it easier for you to show off your trophies, and for others to judge you accordingly.

I would've thought these kind of features would've been included when they started trophy "support"

Maybe because i never got "into" trophies, but i think they are a waste of time. If i tell my buddy to kill 100,000 zombies, he laughs and says whatever. But if the game +1 your old throphies and gives you a virtual pat on the back then you go into a controller throwing rage just to get it. silly and pathetic.

Some people just want to feel like they've accomplished something. It's almost the same as trying to get 100% on a test for school: You don't NEED to, but you just WANT to.

No, I don't hunt for trophies as much as other people... I only have like 3 games with trophies anyway. :P

Yea, but if you get enough 100% on test at school then you get into a good college, better job, more money. Tropgies get you a higher number and the ability to say "hey i sat 5 hours on my ass and beat the game only using the pistol and you din't! haha". Big deal, i just don't see the appeal.

You don't need a "100%" on a test to get into a good college, get a better job and get more money. You completely missed his point.

The point is you don't NEED a 100% on a test. You can do just as much with 90% in order to get into the same good college or good job. And you are not going to land your dream job right after college. It's a gradual process and once you start working your grades count for nothing. It's your experience in the field that matters.

You don't need 100% in a test, you can do just fine with 80-90% most of the time (of course there are always exceptions but that is life)

And this is the point of trophies. You don't NEED a 100% in a test but when you get it you feel real good about yourself because you accomplished something, even though that same something could have been gotten just as easily with 80-90%

Trophies are there to make people feel good about themselves. That they accomplished something. Even if it doesn't help you later in life I mean c'mon, the only things you ever do in life to feel good are things that can help you later? You never do anything just to feel good about yourself? You're lying if you say you don't.
