The Darkness - Image 1At the New York Comic-Con last year, Top Cow Productions teased gamers with the possibility that the follow-up to their shooter, The Darkness (PS3 and Xbox 360), is in the works. But we didn't hear anything from them regarding this for a while (15 long months to be exact), until this year's Comic-Con, that is.

Marc Silvestri, head of Top Cow, finally confirmed what they dangled as bait in front of us last year: they are indeed working on The Darkness sequel. However, if you were hoping that Starbreeze will be on the helm of this franchise project yet again, we're sorry to disappoint.

CEO Johan Kristiansson said that they are not the ones developing for Top Cow, this time around. "I heard that there were talks about a Darkness sequel, but Starbreeze is not involved in anything like that right now. We are busy on two projects together with EA," he said to VG247.

While that's all they had for us regarding the latest iteration, they did reveal that the original game will soon be added to the greatest hits value line-up for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 at US$ 29.99.

» A sequel could be cool

I played some of the first one and it was pretty good. I hope they make a second that's at least as good.

» I hope it stays true to the first one.

I beat the first game and I loved it. It had a great storyline along with a bad ass protagonist with sick powers. I enjoyed using the wielders to rip out people's hearts. I even liked the music which introduced me to some new metal bands. I believe Starbreeze did the comics justice and I hope the new developer will stay true to the first game and continue the storyline. I'll buy it anyways though.

» I forgot!

I forgot about how funny the game was. Everytime my darkling minions spoke I cracked up. Okay, I'm done... bring on the sequel.

The darkness is prob the only game where I literally sat for hours watching it's TV! THere's a bum in the subway with a TV and I spent forever watching Popeye, the metal music channel and movies on before continuing with the game! lol. THey even had "To Kill a mocking bird" in full playing at your girl friend's place!!!

The Darkness can be picked up used for $15 or less at Gamestop. It might even be less than $29.99 new at GS.

I dislike first person shooters immensely and yet I enjoyed The Darkness demo and went out and bought the full game which was very enjoyable. Still I would prefer one in a third person view and involve more agility and level interaction like games such as Uncharted but yeah for an FPS it wasn't bad at all.

And it only cost me £5 brand new.
