Tony Hawk's Project 8's rockin' soundtrack |
Ó
Imagine playing Gears of War with Enya or Jessica Simpson playing in the background. Or Assasin's Creed with Cyndi Lauper and Aqua. Can't do it, can ya? Us neither. Because whether you're aware of it or not, the soundtrack plays a huge role in pumping up your adrenaline while playing a game. So when we get our filthy little hands on news about game soundtracks, we think you guys should get a heads up on it.
So, the latest in-game soundtrack we scored some info on is for Tony Hawk's Project 8 (PS3, PSP, PS2, Xbox, Xbox360). And this early on, we can tell you that the soundtrack rocks. And as Tim Riley, Activision's worldwide executive of music, puts it, "The Tony Hawk's Project 8 soundtrack features an eclectic collection of original and licensed music from punk rock and hip hop to metal. The music captures the rebellious, off-beat, high energy vibe exemplified in skate culture and in the video game."
You got that right, Tim. With tunes from The Ramones, Sonic Youth, Toots & the Maytals, and then backtracks to the 80s with The Cure and Kool and the Gang, the soundtrack showcases a cross-genre collection of tracks suited for the overall feel of the game. The massive (and boy, do we mean MASSIVE) track list also includes the debut single from the group Plus-44. Here's the massive track list for Project 8:

i've never heard of any of these bands. hope this soundtrack isn't as suck as wasteland's was.
If you have never heard any of these bands then you shouldn't be worrying about the THP8 soundtrack. Come on, Bad Religion. Everyone knows them.
If you don't know who Bad Religion, The Cure, Ministry, Primus, The Ramones or Slayer are... then WOW. Nice tracklisting, BTW.
Seems like Tony Hawks games are going back to how 1 and 2 where. A couple of bigger names, but mainly unheard bands. Yeah you got Bad Religion Kool and the Gang Primus Slayer Sonic Youth Transplants and The Cure but for me personally the rest of that list is new stuff. I remember when THPS 1 and 2 came out it opened up a new genre of music for me (I was 8 and 9 at the time and had never heard punk or ska) and shaped the person I am today. Heres hoping the gameplay and soundtrack is truly old skool style.
I've heard of a couple of these bands, but that doesn't mean they're good...
If the dont put lupe fiasco on this soundtrack then these guys need to be fired.. Kick Push is the only skateboarding sound to ever grace rock and rap stations around the country it has to make this game or they should call it quits
no rap or hip hop da older one had N.W.A. (ps2 nd xbox)
i've never heard of any of these bands. hope this soundtrack isn't as suck as wasteland's was. ======================== I hope that was sarcasm cause a soundtrack can never go as kickass is this is... Nine Inch Nails, Minstry, Slayer, The Cure, Eagles Of Death Metal, The Ramones, Bad Religion, Primus, Joy Division... this cant get any better than that!! If you havent heard of them, then you need to get outta britney's @$$... just messin wid ya abt the britney comment :P
i want to be in britneys @$$
With all the "obvious" ones, nobody is mentioning Dead Milkmen? I thought that were one of the more obvious ones...or more to the point, I thought Punk Rock Girl was too obvious of a song.
Dead Milkmen are rather obscure. Most people only know them for '*****ing Camero'
You never heard of nine inch nails ????/ LOL
OMG. Rockin ST? More like PoS ST. Lets all hope it has custom ST support.
Pardon My Extinguisher and The Channeling are both small punk bands from orange county, can be found on myspace @ http://myspace.com/pardonmyextinguisher http://myspace.com/thechanneling
One of the best things with thps is the soundtrack, they have always promoted these more or less unknown bands that people in general dont know about.. me i'v been around for a while so i recognize many of the bands atleast by name, Ministry and Sonic Youth is some of may wayback favorits, some old Bad Brains songs would have been nice.
yo man thp8 is gonna be awsome. what r u guys worrying with the soundtrack for its about the game not the music!oh and if you enter the thp8 sweepstakes jeep give away you always win a free hat and shirt and other stuff. go to tonyhawksproject8.com for details
Dead milkmen are classics. And punk Rock Girl is one of there best. And anyone that doesnt know these bands must be very young, or live under a rock. This line up has some killer old school tracks that i used to listen to when i first started snowboarding. Any Skater will know all of these songs. Alot of them IMO are skate/snowboard anthems.
Check out the 76%uncertain track www.myspace.com/76percent They rock
I like one of the tracks on the whole list - slayer - angel of death the rest is s**t
