Sony PlayStation 3 fans have another reason to smile as Sierra Entertainment and Valve are at it again. The makers of the legendary Half-life franchise that changed the way we think about games have decided to push for another huge innovation with Timeshift, a shooter that lets you play with time. The game was originally announced for the PC and the Microsoft Xbox 360 but now the developers have cemented the fact that Timeshift will also be in the PS3.

Using the fourth dimension as the centerpiece of the game's unique concepts, Sierra intends to create a psychological shooter where players must devise smart and brutal ways to make the seemingly impossible possible by slowing down, freezing or rewinding the timeline itself.

But wait, if we rewind time and go back to the past to kill the guy who was going to kill us, then nobody will be there in the present to kill us, therefore, we won't have a reason to go to the past to kill that guy. Weird. Let's see how it all plays out.

Even more exciting is the fact that we can all bring our time manipulation abilities online and use them on other people. In fact, up to 16 time-travelers can battle it out across 14 multiplayer maps with 60 options to tweak the gameplay to optimum levels.

Even the weapons here are not anything you've ever seen before. Assault rifles, sniper rifles and pistols all have twisted derivatives to put some huge chronological pain on anyone who gets in your way. Suit up and don't forget the ammo. You'll be spending a lot of time with this mind-boggler.

VALVe Software created the original Half-Life, and all the sequels thereafter.

Sierra Entertainment PUBLISHED IT. THEY PRINTED THE DISKS. THEY MARKETED.

This has NO ties to Half-Life, in terms of developers - and as such, cannot even be tied. This game was a POS in it's demo which released a year ago.

I could beat the damned thing in 2 minutes flat (not joking).

Glad they overhauled it - but Sierra/Vivendi publishes games, not developing.

QJ needs some more informed journalists - not amateurs.

Note: I could be partially wrong as to the responsibilitie s of the publisher. But guess what, I don't have to be right - I'm not the one getting writing the articles.

If this is going to "be in the PS3", then I smell a port. That won't be good. We need devs to make games, not port them.

» Its not always bad when they port...

Its all a matter of them taking the time to do it properly. Either way its good for the PS3 and shows developer support.

by ima80baby - 2007-05-18 19:02
» True

But, so far, no one has really made a good port.

» yea

I think the only reason most ports have sucked on the playstation is because devs weren't good with the coding. There were some good ports too, and hopefully this is one of them. Looks like a decent game.

Based on reports and statistics...

* PS3: 3.2 million consoles have been sold (during Nov. 2006 - Apr. 2007, for 6 months)

(0.53 million consoles per month)

* Wii: 7.3 m sold (Nov. 2006 - Apr. 2007, for 6 months)

(1.21 m per month)

* X360: 9.0 m sold (Nov. 2005 - Apr. 2007, for 18 months)

(0.5 m per month)

Wiis are being sold with fastest rate...

Wii > PS3 > X360

- Wii consoles are only for kids (parents want to waste least amount of money for their br+ts and b+tches).

- Wiis are for parties (when your friends come to your house).

- Wiis are for gifts to your people.

- So many analysts at different organization said that either PS3 or X360 will eventually win this new-war in several years.

- Wii consoles don’t have longevity (it simply means Wiis are fad).

Based on the above factors, let’s only talk (discuss) about the worthy candidates: PS3 and X360.

PS3 consoles are sold with slightly faster selling-rate than X360. Let me just add some more info here...

- X360: 7.5 m sold (during Nov. 2005 - Nov. 2006, for 13 months)

(0.57 million consoles per month)

- X360: 1.5 m sold (Dec. 2006 – Apr. 2007, for 5 months)

(0.3 m per month)

PS3 > X360 (0.53 million PS3s are sold per month, when 0.3 million X360s are sold per month since Nov. 2006 until now)

People had to buy X360s until Nov. 2006 because X360 was the only option they had; monopoly; there were no other choices.

So, who (what) can save this ever-falling X360 and Microsoft (from hell)? To be frank with you, I’m not sure. So, you stup+d Xbox fanboys just need to learn how to shut your mouth. I’m talking to you with actual data and flat facts based on factual information.

Wii is a last-gen console (as good as PS2 or Xbox).

X360 is a current-gen console (most suitable for 2006 - 2007).

PS3 is the future. PS3 is the only next-gen console (most suitable for 2006 - 2016).

Remember this - every price tag (cost) below is in Canadian dollar. Also, every price is tax-inclusive.

* An X360 console (20GB): $570

* One game: $90

* Live Subscription Fee: $1,030 ($103 per year, 103 x 10 = 1030)

You must waste $1,030 only for online usage; will you only play online games for this year, and never play online-games from next year? That’s non-sense, idi+ts.

- Above are mandatory (vital, must have) accessories.

- Below are non-mandatory accessories.

HD-DVD drive add-on: $220

You must have $1,690 to buy an X360 console.

If you only calculate for one year online fee, you must have $763 to buy an X360 console.

If someone has $763, he would buy a PS3 console instead of an X360 console.

A PS3 console (60GB): $798

Ah, I almost forgot to mention about 'the future device' called Blu-ray drive. You earn (for free) at least $1,150 if you pay $798. It’s that simple.

- Samsung Blu-ray Player: $1,150

- Sony Blu-Ray Player: $1,370

X360 console + power brick + HD-DVD add-on are much bigger and much heavier than PS3 console.

X360 fanboys say most gamers buy new consoles to play games, not to watch movies. I'll just say one thing to them since I don't want to waste too much time to educate these illogical, unreasonable, and insensible idi+ts. I have lived countless number of days so far, and I have never seen one single person (human being) who hates watching movies. As far as I can think of, all humans on the planet called the Earth have a habit of watching movies regularly. X360 fanboys, how far (or low) are you willing to go to defend your company (Microsoft) and your lost console (X360)? X360 is already shut up, X360 is not a losing console; X360 is a lost console.

So many professional analysts said that X360 console's life-span is 5 years. It means current X360 can’t handle the new games which will be released after 2010. Those analysts said that PS3 can handle all the future games until 2016. Then X360 fanboys must waste another $800 to buy newly designed X360 in 4 years from now on. Why do you want to support X360 console when X360 will last half the period of PS3?
