Let's just get to the core of this story, shall we? Three UPS employees were arrested for stealing more than US$ 19,000 worth of the systems from the delivery company's Elmwood distribution center. This was according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office incident and arrest reports. The three UPS guys are Sean Weber, Norbert Joseph, and Jasel Bolden. So how did they steal the PS3s? Here's what they did, these three guys had a day-job at Andrews Sport Company Inc. and they worked nights at UPS. What they did was they shipped 20 PS3s and 24 SIXAXIS controllers to the address of their day job using pilfered mailing labels, then they sneaked the systems out of the Andrews store. Clever plan.
Apparently, not clever enough. According to the owner of Andrews Sport Company Inc., Al Andrews, he and his company had no idea what these three were up to until a UPS security officer contacted him. UPS refused to give out any comment, but the Sheriff's Office report of the theft revealed that the report was filed on December 11 who said that the embezzlement took place until December 5. The three accused also did not give out any comment with regards to the matter.
Well, what can we say? This scenario just became a part of a growing number of PS3-related incidents. We'll keep you posted about it.
