No cheating! - Image 1You've got him on an armbar, he won't get away. It's only a matter of seconds before you score the W, then...poof...he quits and leaves play. Damn those quitters!

They seem to have found a way to leave online matches in UFC 2009 Undisputed (PS3, Xbox 360) without suffering a loss in their record or any penalty whatsoever. The result? Noobs and cheaters have managed to keep their records "undisputed." Good news - THQ is working on a patch to sort it all out.

THQ announced today that a patch to fix the quitter problem is currently in the works. The patch will also address other unspecified issues in the game, but the focus is definitely the cheat issues. As how the the exploit is to be patched, they didn't go into detail, but as long as it keeps the cheaters at bay, it's all good.

They need to do this for almost all the games that are out right now. Man I hate when people quit in CoD4 too. F-ing losers man. Hopefully EA does this for Fight Night Round 4 too.

» motion controller for every game

Tretton talked about how the controller coming out could be used for every game now and on but mentions that it's not really gonna be used for every game. He also said that the Wii controller just couldn't really play GoW3 well.

» really

there is a way around this patch, its called turning off your system. It should be patched to say if you quit the match, you lose the match,

» well...

It is easy to make it so that the first person to disconnect loses....the problem is, what if your internet screws up or your dog chews through a wire....than you have ppl complaining they got a loss and it was not their fault....

Can't please everyone I guess....

those are the rare occasions that they shouldn't care about. it's one loss that happened...

i agree though that first to quit loses.

@Shatterdome

Yeah it happened to me. During a match of SFIV online my connection (which seems a bit hit or miss during evenings) dropped me out of the game and I got an abusive message in my PSN message folder saying I'm a cheater. Really pissed me off and is one reason I now rarely play SFIV online, least until I move to my new home later in the year which is a better area for internet connections.

» Your right enigmaticdude

They should make sure it knows that you used the quit game feature. It could be done just like some games pause when you push the PS button. Who cares though if people want to avoid it by pulling power completely. You can only do that so long before your system screws up. Then we can say "so long" to the cheaters.

Well, I agree that they should ignore the few times that network errors occur etc in favour of trying to stop quiters. The thing I don't get is that this happens in almost every 1 on 1 multiplayer game. Devs of sports games, fighting games etc should really be focusing on this problem by now.

@Nathan....me and my friend have also had SF4 randomly disconnect us. We play a *****load of play matches and maybe 1 out of 50 we get an error. We both have solid internet and networks, so i'm thinking it's a SF4 + PSN thing...
