Thieves find no PS3s, steal Xbox 360s instead |
Ó
The Jacksonville police just said that video-game-related crime is nothing new (thank you Captain Obvious - although, the cops are probably tired of talking about the fights and shootings and robberies, robberies, guns, and more robberies).
No matter what we do, there are always going to be criminal trash whose parents should have been neutered individuals looking to make a quick buck, and of course they're going to target shiny expensive things. We just have to be careful - like McGruff the anti-crime dog teaches us.

If someone stole a PS3, wouldn't it just pointless. I would think that when the stolen ps3 connected to the internet, Sony would be able to tell via some kind of identification system for each individual ps3. Then just slap a red light to the stolen ps3's serial (or whatever it may be called) number and be able to tell exactly where and when the stolen ps3 connected? Then, considering there are updates frequently needed for the smooth running of the system, in say, one year the games developped would be developped under the assumption that every ps3 has said updates, and so playing these games without those updates wuold be impossible.
Now this is just my interpretation of it, but I would like to know if there is foundation to my speculation. Can a stolen ps3 connect to the internet or would it get flagged as soon as it connected?

Unless Sony (or any company for that matter) themselves know which serial numbers are going to which stores I can't see how they could really do it.

but i doubt sony will be doing this as it will not favor them to reap high rewards. but it will certainly make a ps3 more secure.

People wantting to steal and doing anything it takes to get a product is another thing all together, which is an indirect affect of the company making a good product.
You combine both direct and indirect, which is wrong. Go use your twisted logic to bash Sony elsewhere.

ARE YOU STUPID!! IT IS SONY THATS GETTING ROBBED! OF COURSE SONY CARES IF THEIR CONSOLE GETS STOLEN! They would be in debt billions of dollars if their console was constantly being stolen from stores and not purchased.
You are one dumb kid, think about what your saying before you say it.
I'm sorry if i offended you but that statement is so utterly idiotic it made me laugh so hard and also made me feel bad for your lack of knowledge at the same time.

I work in retail, in the receiving area and have to deal with invoices and accounts payable.
true, there is a small grace period, where you can have the product and have to pay later... it allows stores to buy more stock and use the profits to cover the debts.
but if the product is stolen, the store holds the bag and the corporation still gets it money. weither the corporation cares if stores get ripped off after they get their peice of the pie... probally not.
