Gran Turismo 5 - Image 1

Gran Turismo 5
has been in development for more than three years now, only to find that it's only just 65% complete. Despite getting reprieve in the form of Prologue, GT fans have gone too long without the Real Driving Simulator. Good news - Polyphony Digital big boss Kazunori Yamauchi confirms that the next Gran Turismo will come along much quicker than the fifth did, and yes, there just might be a Gran Turismo 6.

Speaking to Joystiq, Yamauchi explains in a nutshell why the development process took so long. “GT5 is a title that was pretty much remade from scratch, but because we did that, the next version is actually going to be faster — the time period it’s going to be released,” he said. “But I think when GT5 comes out, we’re still going to have things that are left undone, and whether we complete that in GT6, or the next version for PSP, I’m not sure yet."

For Gran Turismo 5, it's March 31st for Japan, while an international release has yet to be determined.

Wait a sec...was that an unofficial confirmation that we might get ANOTHER PSP Gran Turismo in the Future?

And I hope GT 5 comes out before 6...lol

?

I want to get GT5 and all, but this kind of makes me wonder if I should skip it and wait for GT6.

...

Maybe you should have skipped the PS3 to wait for the PS4.. or maybe you should skip beating off today and wait to do it tommorow. Ok but seriously, there would be no reason IMO to skip GT5 just to wait even longer for its successor. Yes im being sarcastic about this because it really doesn't seem logical to play the waiting game.

OR how about maybe support the game you took so f*cking long to make by supporting the game and add these unfinished features to GT5 in the form of DLC instead of making another game.

Plus it would be kind of retarded if they din't make GT6 considering this is their only game under their belt.

As much as I love GT I really think we're going to get screwed when it comes to PD supporting this game.

Kind of funny how they say it's taking so long because they remade the game from scratch, which was exactly what Rockstar did with GTA4 and managed to get it finished over a year earlier (GT4 and GTA: SA came out pretty close together). Way different games but the scope of the games I think could be comparable.

I thought PD actually got car manufacturers details about their cars so they could transform them into digital versions? Shouldn't this make them easier to do?

Sorry about the rant. I've been waiting for this game for far too long.

wtf

Another good dev talking about releasing the next game in the series before the current one they're working on is even out. Next they'll announce car and track DLC for GT5 before it hits the shelves

I hate what's happening to the game industry, it's all turning into Madden.
