The world's coolest trailer, remastered: Metal Gear Solid 4

War, and its vast consumption of human life, has become a rational, well-oiled business transaction.

Perhaps there's a bit of an exaggeration here, but if there was an academy award for video trailers, you know that the original Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer would have taken home some gold, not only for interspersing political messages into games, but also for looking way cool. Recently uncovered by news sites, however, is the return of Konami's MGS4 trailer, now longer, better, and remastered using the latest version of the game's engine.

All of the old staples are here, from Snake to Otacon, with better animation, lighting and particle effects. More importantly, this remastered version of the trailer also adds a date you're all going to like: a confirmation of a 2007 release date.

Oh, and there's also a fight scene with good old Raiden in his ninja suit. In any case, don't miss out. Watch the video below. Enjoy!

fkin awesome, a great game made even better, if ya'll notice they also rid the small frame drop in the scene where the two MG burst in the building chasing snake, cant wait to see the HD version of this

» i really respect hideo

Hideo isn't afraid to make middle eastern people look the enemies. The rest of the game industry always makes the bad guys russians or aliens. kudos for taking real world enemies.

They had to ruin it with the sword guy. Every fin game has to have a sword in it. Medieval and Ninja games like FF are gay. Guns or cars are my two choices.

» cool

Thats great, but I kinda wanna see some actual gameplay footage instead of a mini movie. Any game can play a CGI, I want to see how it plays.

So far, not all that interested.

The real enemies are the American gov't and their illegal wars.

are you stupid? its using in-game engine

» I agree with Rammek

Study a little history of the world, lawl, and not just history as shown by Fox or some other rightwing propaganda channel, and you might be surprised to find where the real villians lie.

» I agree

I agree with AoxomamoxoA (nice palindrome there, although I don't know what it means, or whether it means anything at all :) ).

I'm really interested in seeing actual gameplay footage as well, although, to be honest, I admit that I've already decided I'm going to buy this game anyway.

Regards,

MTK

» Best trailer I've seen.

"No Where to Hideo"

Best part. Anyways, the in-game cutscenes look very impressive. Hope the actual gameplay is the same. I was very pleased to see that it will be out this year, even though it will be out December 31, 2007

Can't wait to play as Raiden, he seems to be more improved (character model and personality wise).

The video is real time in-game graphic engine.

This video was re-shot using the newest build of the game engine because the older video was not as smooth and the lighting was not as good.

This video is a comparison to see how far they have gone in development. Frame rate is smooth, detail is nice, the color style looks realistic.

The video is real time. Not CGI

» The same to you

@unspoken majority, give a proof than Iraq war is legal and not the same BS about Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Now, it is illegal because Iraq has not attacked USA in any way but nevertheless USA without UN support invaded Iraq, destroying its infrastructure, raping its women and killing Iraqi child.

FALSE NEWS!!! HAHAHA GET A LIFE XBOTS

takens from gamesradar:

Contrary to what you may have read elsewhere, Konami has not issued a 'remastered' or enhanced video of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

GamesRadar has spoken to Konami, who informed them that the trailer which appeared on a new MGS site this morning, and which certain aggregate portals, news blogs and websites claim displays new visual effects, is definitely not new. Konami stressed to GamesRadar that it has not released any new footage, and that we won't see anything of MGS4 until E3 2007 in August.

This 'new' footage is simply a recut version of last year's E3 trailer. Smoke effects, particles, melon physics, textures - all of these things are exactly the same in both versions, with not a hint of any retouched effects to be seen. And, anyway, doesn't Konami have better things to do than fiddle around with existing footage?

by The Patriots - 2007-06-07 12:34
» Non-Exclusive

I hope you guys figured it out... Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots may not be an exclusive title for the PlayStation 3. The remastered trailer by Konami (Kojima Productions) removed the PlayStation 3 logo and in the original trailer (shown at E3 2006) displayed the logo. What does this mean? Possibly, MGS4: Guns of the Patriots may be heading to the Xbox 360.

by darsh - 2007-06-07 13:01
» o rly?

No one seemed to notice when the TGS 06 trailer didn't have anything about the ps3 on it? And if you actually go to the mgs 20th anniversary site, where the trailer originates, you will see your playstation 3 logo. Go back to theorizing about the Moon landing or JFK's assassination.

by darsh - 2007-06-07 13:04
» Nothing new here

Just watched both of them, and the only change was an improved framerate. I guess that's good news.

Since when do we need permission from the UN to go to war, last time I heard the UN is being ran by a bunch of douche bags who accept bribes and steel money from the oil for food program. I can't refute the fact that we found any major weapons of mass destruction, but we had multiple sources from different nations saying Saddam Hussein had them. I'm glad the president decided to take the chance instead of ignoring it or only going by what was being told to the UN. It is kind of hard to believe someone like Saddam who used his own weapons on the Kurds in the north back at the turn of the 90's that he didn't have any. Plus he has killed an unknown number of Iraqis over the years just because he felt they were a threat or some other reason. No don't tell me you would believe someone like him without checking. Second, I don't know about any reports where it describes the economy of Iraq crumbling at the facade.

I won't argue deny women being raped but you can't account for everything that happens. The killings of children are just a spin on truth, US soldiers do not kill children intentionally, they can caught in crossfire or are killed by enemy insurgents. The insurgents don't care about anyone getting killed as long as they kill American soldiers.

Even if there are bad things happening, it doesn't mean anything good can come out of it. We have Iraq as an ally against international terrorism now. The US is using the Army corp of engineers and the Navy Seabees to help rebuild parts of Iraq like water and septic systems that are in terrible conditions as well as creating schools where some regions didn't even have any. I know the US can't solve all the problems over there, but leaving the Iraqis in an instant is not an option.

that site is completely speculative, it has no proof to back its claims that are legitamate. It even claims the second plane is computer generated in the videos. The people who made that claim have no idea how physics work; they say the plane should have crumpled on impact. The reason it didn't is because it is mainly made aluminum, a very soft and malleable metal compared to iron and concrete. The plane literally got shredded apart and then exploded from the fuel it was carrying when it was mixed with the air and the shear heat of the collision. Give it a rest, 9/11 was not an inside job and was caused by islamic terrorists.
