Electronic Arts (EA) and Harmonix sent in two new press released today regarding the in-game content for video game Rock Band that is expected to be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. The first among the many revelations is that full-length albums will be available for download aside from the game's first 16 songs.

Aside from that, it was also said that the first album that will be ready for download is The Who's iconic record "Who's Next" that made tremendous waves during its 1971 release. If that still didn't do it for you, be informed that MTV Networks and Harmonix also announced that they have just signed a deal with legendary band Metallica.

"Metallica is one of the best loved bands in the world and their albums redefined hard rock and metal. Its one of the bands we had to bring to the Rock Band experience," commented Harmonix CEO and Co-founder Alex Rigopulos. Likewise, MTV Senior VP for Audio, Home Video, and Games Paul DeGooyer had this to say,

Our goal was to bring a deep musical experience to Rock Band by providing not just one song by a player's favorite artist, but a carefully-chosen career-spanning array. Metallica has never been afraid to let their fans get closer, and now those fans will be able to inhabit this incredible music in a completely new way.

There have been rumors these past few days that Rock Band will only be available on Microsoft's console. Judging from the press release sent in by the companies, we can assure PS3 owners that Rock Band will still be released on their chosen console.

I love The Who. Awesome. Metalica is also pretty kickin'!

But it says "aside from the game's first 16 songs." Does this mean the game will only come with 16 songs?!?! Also: Lets hope the Albums aren't outrageously priced.
