The PS3 launch: Poland |

"It's very exciting," PS3 fan Olek told SPOnG. "Although I think it's a little bit too expensive for common sense. It's over 2000 Polish Zloty, but wellÂ… [looks around the group] there are still people willing to buy it." Olek continued by adding that the PS3's high price point was fine by him. "The PS3 has advanced technology, the Blu-ray drive, the graphics, it's worth it. But still, it's a lot of money."
SPOnG notes that while the PS3's high price point is a definite mark against it in places where a console's high cost will sting more than usual, the launch does give Sony a chance to catch up on the competition in Poland. Microsoft's Xbox 360 only launched in Poland in November. Also, as far as fans like Olek are concerned, there's another selling point that the PS3 carries with it: a name.
"I don't really have any desire to buy an Xbox, Playstation is an icon of gaming culture," said Olek. "Every new Playstation release is welcome."

Personally I buy all consoles. I like games and put a large amount of earnings towards them. I don't like MS - I think that they are a complete monopoly and have some very distasteful opinions on why they have been allowed to continue their monopolistic ways.
I don't like flame wars or fan boys with dumb intentions - I like seeing fights between companies that spawn new and exciting products for us, the gamers.

No doubt I'll pick up a PS3 when the games/online service picks up.
From what I've read Playstation have alot of catching up before they come anywhere near to been on par with Live.

1. In 2 Sony Centres in Warsaw there were more than 50 buyers in each
2. Over a dozen Sony Centres opened on Midnight- price is an issue in Poland (even though PS2 was even more expensive) - people tend to choose X360 now as a cheaper alternative to PS3 and PC (for all those FPS) but none of them were empty.
3. In the store I was placing my preorder there were 30 consoles ordered, Sony cut it down to 20, 17 of them were taken on the first day on preorders, when I visited the store on 4 P.M. to grab mine, only one left. PS3 kiosk was surrounded by at least 20 people, X360 kiosk standing just next to PS3 was deserted and looke a bit shy compared to Playstation.
Playstation is a name in Poland, youngsters name any console 'Play' even if it's an Xbox or X360.
That's my take on Polish launch
