Sony PlayStation 3 owners in both North American and European sides of the world will now be able to enjoy the FPS goodness that is The Orange Box next week, as an announcement direct from Electronic Arts revealed that the game compilation of Valve's finest shooters will be shipping out this December 11. Not bad for an early Christmas present!

For the uninitiated, here's a brief backgrounder on the games you'll be getting from The Orange Box. First up is the sequel to Gordon Freeman's adventure, Half-Life 2 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360), along with its latest episode, Half-Life 2: Episode 2. Then there's Team Fortress 2 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360), the sequel to the team-based shooter with a revamped visual style and larger-than-life classes.

Finally, there's Portal (PC, PS3, Xbox 360), a quirky gem of a game that combines clever puzzles and sharp wit to deliver an experience unlike any other. So that's pretty much four games, if you haven't played the original Half-Life 2 yet, and it's practically a steal.

With this news of the game being released comes a slight bit of trepidation, as the Sony PlayStation 3 version was developed by EA UK and not by Valve themselves (who took care of both PC and Xbox 360 versions). And while we know that EA UK is certainly capable of handling such an enormous task of porting the entire Orange Box on their own, we hope that they've done it without any glaring issues.

????

"And while we know that EA UK is certainly capable of handling such an enormous task of porting the entire Orange Box on their own, ..." What on earth has EA done for the PS3 that would earn them this kind of assumption?

Well

Qj is doing what they do best, sucking up. They can only hope somebody in EA will see the news and give them an interview or something. Maybe a little advertising. :P

Yeah...

They've already said how terrible the PS3 port will be, being borderline unplayable. I don't see how anyone can still be optimistic after those types of comments. I say stick with the PC version. The game is already so flexible that even low-end rigs can have a bit of fun with the game. Valve needs a large pile of crap dumped on their faces for totally alienating the PS3 audience, let alone console gamers themselves, for thinking they get to decide what is and isn't worth their time. Utterly asinine.

EA + PS3 WHAT A JOKE!!

There isn't a hope in hell that this will be any good, EA and PS3 ports spell giant turd! The only thing EA will come good on PS3 is Burnout and even then thats only because Criterion were bought by them!!!!!
