Why the fight?
Simply put, they're both getting on in years, they're both sneaky fellas, and they've just been itching to have a go at one another for years now. It's time to find out who the better agent is.

Solid Snake

Training: Expertly trained elite soldier, proficient in close quarters combat and trained in the use of multiple kinds of light and heavy weaponry including high yield explosives. Special training includes Green Beret, FOXHOUND and CIA training.

Misc: His real name is David, last name is unknown but aliases include "Iroquois Pliskin" and "Old Snake". With an IQ of 180 and the ability to speak six different languages, Snake's about as sharp as they come. Of Japanese and British descent, Snake is a clone currently suffering the effects of advanced cellular degradation borne of the "Les Enfants Terrible" genetic experiment, which was intended to create the perfect soldier by cloning the remains of the greatest soldier in history, "Big Boss." Currently a member of the global anti-Metal Gear group known as Philanthropy, Snake was exposed to the FOXDIE virus during the Shadow Moses Incident.

Much like Solid Snake, Sam was born and bred on the battlefield, having served in Afghanistan, Korea and Kuwait, and like Snake he is now alone in the world, as both his ex-wife and daughter are dead.

The Outcome:
Snake's got the reach, he's also got the agility, Sam's a sneaky guy and some would argue he's got more moves than Snake does, he would also appear to be in better health than Snake presently, but his apparently unstable psychological condition negates this advantage. When it comes down to it, Solid Snake is faster, smarter and stronger than Sam Fisher. Sam is more than capable of tackling one or two opponents at a time and he can be a cold blooded killer, but once things start getting really ugly he usually can't handle the heat. Snake has taken down tanks, helicopters, and even a cybernetic Ninja, I think that guarantees a win. As a result Snake wins.

Snake would kill Sam in anything, hey how about we try and e-mail nintendo to put Sam Fisher in the new Super Smach Bros Braw Game. Snake is a legend people, that you will not forget. Sam Fisher be will nothing, just like Gabe Logan. Besides I feel more of a badass playing as a name like Soild Snake than Sam Fisher or Gabe Logan. Sam Fisher SUX. I wonder which game started all this stealth tactical action business.....oh noes it was Metal Gear!

Hideo Kojima's games are really a work of art, although I think he has some eccentric tendancies, it's still one of the better games out there next to Mario and all the other greats. Something tells me all those noobs out there haven't played any of the series fully enough to understand it, or they could just be little kids who can't take a bit of thinking and go nutso.

Splinter Cell is better because of the Somewhat polished realism, and Metal Gear is better due to the storytelling and wide range of gameplay options, though not as much as Splinter Cell's, it is still very very good.

Sam Fisher would win, because even though he is more stiff than snake, snake is an old man(almost), so therefore, snakke would have to suffer speed which would make that about the same. Same Fisherhas the better kill moves, if you recall, all snake does is choke and shoot. Sam can breaak necks in several different ways, over a pole for example. Sam also has the better technology. The only was snake would win is shooting him, sam can knock him unconcious when snake gets close because Sam also has the better camoflage. I'd say it would be close, but Sam should take it away. And Sam is funnier.

Considering Snake has been around since 1998 (starting with the Solid games) and Sam was created in 2002, isn't it interesting how both series' have the same number of games? Not to mention that MGS has been easily one of the most revolutionary franchises in gaming. A game with a plot, great gameplay, a dedicated developer (consider that Spinter Cell doesn't really have a proclaimed mastermind, whereas Kojima is undoubtedly up there with Miyamoto). Both are good games, but ignoring all the nonsense about the size of the characters testicles, the true series winner is clear.

In a recent article with hideo kojima in the latest PSM he talks about snake having even more sick moves than previous games. He didnt exactly specify but kojima siad he will have an arsenal of hand to hand combat attacks now. Actually anyone interested in anything about PS3 should pick up the latest issue. It has lots of preview with actual hands on, interviews with hideo kojima and kaz. Also by the looks of MGS4 raiden could pown sams ass as well.

Kojima is simply a genious when it comes to creating video games without a dought. Tom Clancy shouldn't try to hatch his ass on to Kojima for a free ride. Tom Clancy should stick to Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six.

Oh and another suggestion for a vs. post would be Kojima vs. Clancy.

there should be Solid Snake (circa MGS2 or MGS3) vs Batman. now *that'd* be a kickass battle. i'm still torn on who would win that one. ultimately, i think maybe Batman would, but then again, Snake wouldn't hesitate about pulling the trigger or snapping Bat's neck, whereas Batman would refuse to finish Snake off.

anyway, Snake would kick Sam's ass. i mean, he is a clone of the "greatest soldier in history." it's in his genes to be badass. and to also die of accelerated aging due to his cloning. oh, the irony.

in a recent interview with Hideo Kojima, he said that he wasn't even sure himself if Solid Snake will die in MGS4. i think the article was in OPM, or Play magazine.

don't forget the misleading trailer for MGS2, where you saw Solid Snake running around the Big Shell base shooting things and people, and it turned out that you were playing as Raiden through those areas. Kojima is very good at leading the masses to think one thing, then slapping them across the face with another. the guy putting the gun in his mouth in MGS4 may not be Snake in the actual game. also ignore the lines about wiping his genes off of the face of the earth. you know how movie trailers will have dialogue playing over a scene in the trailer, but the same scene in the movie will have different dialogue, completely unrelated? i think we're seeing the same thing here.

we do know that Snake is going to die (perhaps), but not necessarily at the end of MGS4. who knows, there may be a way to stop his accelerated aging, or at least stablize his genes so they won't deteriorate anymore.

it should also be noted, that Hideo Kojima has said that even though Snake looks like pushing 70, he's still only a 40 year old man. so far, the deterioration hasn't affected his muscles yet (just his lungs, but that could be from his chronic smoking). so physically, i think that Snake is on par with Sam, whether it be Snake from MGS2, Big Boss Snake from MGS3, or Old Snake from MGS4.

also, thanks to some of the Sam Fisher fans giving their thoughts on why he would win the fight. i don't like the Splinter Cell games at all (too slow and boring for me), but some of you guys have been very fair and inciteful as to your reasonings, and not the standard "Sam powns everything!!! Snake suckorrzz!!!11" i don't really know much about Sam, so i just defaulted to Snake, but after reading some of you guy's arguments, i think the fight would be very very good, though i do still think Snake would come out on top. or they'd just go out for a beer together and swap war stories.

Snake Plisskin is not Solid Snake. Snake Plisskin is the badass character from the John Carpenter films "Escape form New York" and "Escape from L.A." played by Kurt Russell.

Hideo Kojima has stated that the character designs for Solid Snake and Big Boss were based on Snake Plissken. In MGS2, the name Iroquois Pliskin is a reference to Snake Plisskin, and in MGS3, Solid Snake (who later assumes the alias Big Boss) has an eyepatch, much like Snake Plisskin.

If you haven't seen either of those movies, I would recommend them.

Even though being a SC fanboy I must admit that snake is way cooler then Sam. Sam is just who he is because he has been very trained and stuff, snake feels like he is alive and has a personality and style and such. It feels as if though you could exchange sam for me and it would still be a good game, but imagine MSG without snake! Your wrong about one thing. The Snake you play as in MGS3 is actually Naked Snake not Solid Snake. Solid Snake appears later in MGS1 and MGS2 40 years later after the events of MGS3. Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, and Solidius Snake were cloned from the Snake in MGS3.

I'm already forgetting the paragraphs of stuff I was gonna type, so i'll keep it short. Solid Snake would beat fisher to a sensless pulp- he'd kick the sh** out of him. snake has a proper developed character, whereas sam fisher is just a one-dimensional f****** card-board cut out. MGS has a rich and twisting plot, but sc is boring crap, and not as realistic as pathetic sc fans say (eg, secret computers hidden behind wall portraits? how original...). snake is just as stealthy as fisher, but has more soldier material in him so if fishers shadow cover was blown, snake would make fisher eat his own f****** stupid goggles. Did i say this was gonna be short? I lied...(though it's not gonna be as long as i intended cos i keep forgetting sh**) so lastly (before I go off on a tangent), SC doesn't have an amazing theme tune unlike MGS- hum along- di di diiii (cool drum roll) di di di di di (cdr) di di diii, di di di di di (cdr) di di diiiiiiii di di di di di, di di di di di di di diiiiiiiiiii…! (ok I’ll shut up now……)

Um- prince of persia? I was under the distinct impression that this was a discussion about solid snake (the coolest) vs. sam fisher (the three-eyed f***). so lets get on with it, and stop changing the f****** subject, it p***** me off. Good on you guys that have stuck up for solid snake and the MGS series. keep on posting stuff. Now, a couple of days after i posted my first message, i decided to play splinter cell again-it sucked the first time i played it a year ago-and guess what- it sucked again!!! splinter cell has to be the sh***** stealth game ever. As i played, it seemed that unless i was facing directly behind an enemy, i could not kill them with my fists- thats not what i call realistic! And when i shot a civilian (who was most certainly DEAD, slumped in a chair) a voice over my intercom told me 'did you know you just shot a civilian?! another mistake like that and the missions over'- what the f***?! And really, no matter how stealthy you are, a person will see you if you are right behind them, but apparently not in splinter cell where you seem to become 'invisible'. its all stupid and it sucks, so dont you sc fans go spouting more crap about splinter cell being realistic cos thats just bull****. why don't the enemies bleed when u shoot them? huh? yeah, can't answer that can you, you misgiuded SC fans?!
