The DarknessThe Darkness by developer Starbreeze AB is still set to come out early 2007. We're all eagerly awaiting the comic book-inspired game, so to help tide us all over, here's something we found.

During an interview, lead designer Jens Anderson had several things to say about the PS3 and the Xbox 360. According to Anderson, while the 360 has the lead on the user base, he thinks that by the end of it, the user base will be bigger on the PlayStation3. He adds that he also thinks that by early next year, the 360 will still have a "a pretty good slot coming out."

Later on he mentions that he's not quite sure how they will scale the game to 1080p for the PS3. It's more likely that they'll just release the game in the same resolution for both 360 and the PS3. A consistent feel performance- and presentation-wise across platforms is what they intend anyway.

What's really interesting is that he says that they have plans of taking advantage of Sony's Blu-Ray. According to Anderson, it will just probably be extra content, because of the extra space available.

Though Starbreeze doesn't intend the gaming experience to be significantly different on the PS3, the added content will probably be a big bonus for Sony fans. Extra stages perhaps? Bonus unlockables? Time will tell.

They've already revealed what the extra content is. there are a few short movies that will play on TVs that you see in the game sometimes.

PS3

They sould just start makeing games for one console or not make ports of games but one for PS3 and one for xbox360 of the same game. Seeing how all the xbox360 games have to be so low gb since they use dvd9... I mean really if there gonna be any ports of games it sould really be a port from PS3 since PS3 is much better and way more powerful. Pcs are safe... they just do more then one disc for games... just look at unreal 2004... next gen pc games would have to use way more dics then that for pc and because the maps sould be bigger and everything better, newer, next gen. Since PS3 got blu-ray they can add so much to the games and have it on one disc. Think about it this way... if a game for xbox360 just to play it online or the whole game... and it was a huge game like alot more gb then a dvd9 disc... you would not be able to play it and even if it was on more then one disc... you might be able to play sp story line and go from disc to disc when doing it. But not be able to play online because you would need all those discs on one and that cant happen with dvd9. That gos for haveing better graphics, physics, bigger maps, more stuff in the maps, stuff in the map breaking and blowing up, how many can play online, how big sp story line is, a.i?, Lol and tons of other things that would only fit on a blu-ray disc to make the game bigger, better, better graphics, more physics, bigger maps, bigger longer story line, and lots of other stuff. But for pcs... they can do this if they haves more then one disc to install... and this only works for pcs since on pcs you haves to install the game on the pc. That also a bad thing because that will take up more space on your pc as you get more games and with next gen games... lol and the cpu is running everything o nyour pc and everything in it already yet alone a game... yet online a next gen game, lol. Means the cpu will not run at the rate it suppose to and I thin kwould run slow and to fast and over heat more. And by useing more heat and slow/over fast speed will mean it have to use more power for everything on the pc and whatever running. And that means the cpu will be less powerful then what it suppose to be. Also video cards in pcs haves to do graphics for whatever and everything that displayed on the screen that is in the pc right? I would go into alot more diff details about lots of stuff about PS3, xbox360, and pcs but it would be along post and there be ppl who agree with me the ones that are smart and know there stuff, lol and others that will fight with me because there fanboys or just dumb and dont know what they are talking about and are info. wrong, lol. It be a waste of time and getting off the subject of what this news is about and I already did that alittle be I think? Lol so there ya go, lol.

All that typing, but in the first sentence you proved to us all you're a complete dumbass. GG

number... retard lol

I am insane highly smart and 110% right, lol. What I meant for the first thing I said was that platform games that are for both PS3 and xbox360 basicy have close to the same graphics. I say that because of PS3 will run the game better and make the game look betetr over all and stuff, lol. And they might add more for the PS3 game because of blu-ray and 1080p and other stuff the PS3 gots. But I meant... instead of doing games for both consoles this way they sould just make the game for PS3 and work with the PS3 more and use the PS3 power and stuff. Then make the same game on xbox360 useing the xbox360 power and all it stuff. Hope it not a port or te same game just made for both consoles. I mean it is the same game but doing ports anit gonna use the power or take the time to find out what best for diff stuff and how to do more and get more out of the console that the game is being made on. Ports wont do that stuff. So the same game sould be made for PS3 to do all the stuff it can do and use most of the power they can get out of it and ifnd what best for diff stuff and use blu-ray and alot of other stuff the PS3 gots. And then make the same game for xbox360 doing what it gots and find out whhat best for diff stuff and get the most out of xbox360 as they can. Ports are just dumb... but they stll will look betetr on PS3 and PS3 may have exrta stuff and I think if not all of them like I think but most of them will, lol.

You write way to much to say something you could sum up into a couple sentences. Also, I'm really looking forward to the darkness.

Number 1 and 2

GTFO idiots You're talking about quality, designer of Darkness aid that these movies will look better on PS3, not that they will be the additional content. I like to see good news coming for PS3 everyday, X360 seems to be more half assed with every passing day.

#8 - Did you actually read that interview?

"Eurogamer: Do you support 1080p on PS3? Jens Andersson: No. Well, I'm not sure it's possible how we would upscale to 1080, but we're going to run in most probably in the same resolution on Xbox and PlayStation 3. THE GRAPHICS HARDWARE IS PERFORMANCE-WISE KIND OF SIMLILAR, SO..." and "Eurogamer: Do you think there'll be a definitive version? Jens Andersson: THEY WILL LOOK PRETTY MUCH IDENTICAL AND FEEL PERFORMANCE-WISE WILL HOPEFULLY BE PRETTY IDENTICAL. That's what we are aiming for anyway. The PlayStation 3 has a few capabilities that perhaps we can take advantage of, for example the Blu-ray, but it's going to be just nifty features, JUST CRAMMING MORE EXTRA CONTENT OR MORE MOVIE CONTENT IN THERE ON THE BLU_RAY, because we have the space, while on Xbox we have filled up." He says they may be cramming extra CONTENT onto the Blu-ray disc, maybe extra movie content too, he does NOT say the quality will be higher. He also says in terms of graphical performance, both consoles are pretty much identical. But hey, what does he know, he's only developing a game on BOTH consoles. ;) So, where did he say the movies will look better in that interview? Hmmm, perhaps you should check you facts first before calling people idiots.

checkout the interview on ign if you can find it. and again they want both copies to sell so they will not make the ps3 version look significantly better.

Hes talking about the GPU #9

"THE GRAPHICS HARDWARE IS PERFORMANCE-WISE KIND OF SIMLILAR" They also mentioned in their IGN interview that the PS3 version might use the motion sensing controller. Does anyone else get the feeling that multiplatform games are getting more stuff and/or looking better on the PS3. Virtual Tennis, Fight Night, Blazing Angels, The Darkness.
