TGS To Reveal "Exciting" PS3 News? |

Ó
Last week, Sony's Kaz Hirai admitted that PS3 is not in the production stage yet. All the companies involved in making it are still in the process of acquiring necessary hardware. Such a scare because Sony promised 2 million units or more come launch date. But according to a Leipzig Games Convention insider, one Sony PR representative said that the production of PS3 will be announced after the Keynote Speech at the Tokyo Game Show this September 22. To keep fanboys' hopes up, the representative added that a huge piece of information about the PS3 will be disclosed as well. The impact of this information, allegedly, will keep gamers all over the planet excited until launch date.
Nothing can be confirmed as of yet but we hope such promises are true and not hollow. Sony would not want to lose a loyal following just because of words unkept. Meantime, what do you think will this exciting news be? Let us know via the comments.

Now serious, i think it is a free online service for all!

But then again, we are talking about a comany that comfortably makes 1,000,000 psp's per month. With the multiple factories making PS3's and the fact that some of the production is being outsourced for the first time, it shouldnt be a problem

Also: You have pre-ordered a system with the specified hardware.
Some possible things might be:
- MGS4 being released earlier (so many videos, such a banging game so late?!?=
- Voice control for your PS3 (now really - which other console has that feature implemented really good?)
- Free online-service for gaming (this would be a big deal by sony!! - They know they can't take your money because so many black-servers will be launched - so people wouldn't just use (and pay) for the sony ones. So they make it free anyways)

It's considered a killer-feature of the PS3.
As beatiful as it would be: It can't be rumble feature!
$ony won't make any business with Immerson that way again! Because they were sued by Immerson!
It probably won't be a game. A game is a game not a feature of the PS3.
Playing UMDs with your PS3 would be a more or less useless feature. UMD-Movies aren't high definition (and thats a major feature of the PS3 - playing high definition movies).
Don't be stupid! It ain't gonna be a new CPU or GPU not is it gonna be another OS.
Probable features might be:
-Compability for PSP games (downloadable through online-service)
-Voice-Control (Microphones are already compatible)
This might be the reason for a produce-stop (voice-controling is a very very difficult technique if you want to have it in perfection)
-Free Online-Service would be the most probable feature (dosen't cost $ony so much - a few servers... people will use black-servers [servers not by $ony] anyways)
Please figure out what you write before writing it. Most answeres in here are really stupid!

The rest seem ridiculous as well!
I'm with Shrink most of what he says is right...

1) Linux (which we already know about)
2) LocationFree Hub (which was only talked about but never confirmed)
What it probably won't be:
1) Voice control (seriously guys, what's the point? You have a wireless controller! "RIGHT, RIGHT, DOWN... I said DOWN!!... DOWN, SELECT.... SEEEELLLEEECCCT ... ")
2) Free Online access (Because that's already been made clear)
What I'm trying to keep in mind is what they've said recently... they aren't turning it on at the game convention because of the secret weapon... so, it must be something which is obvious when you turn it on for the first time... possibly a menu icon they've only recently unlocked for the final production stages.
Final thought, how about a link to www.ps3updates.com?!?! hehe

Another thing I recently thought about might be the support of divx. but this isn't very probable as well...
LocationFreeHub would be ok, but nothing more...
Linux... nah... c'mon you don't believe that yourself! They wouldn't announce that as a killer-feature!

and custom themes for the xmb

Think on: Sitting in front of your PS3 playing against someone else playing PSP.
That would be tits!
I really think this might gonna happen. Just consider: They won't tell anything yet about the functions of the PSP in connection with the PS3 (unless some stupid ideas like a back mirror in racing games)...
What they also said is: The ps3 will be downwards compatible... Now we might know what that means...
They won't make it cheaper because they already sell it under the actual costs (Hardware+Produ ction cost more than price in stores!) It's so dumb to think they make it cheaper! Man! When will you get it? People pre-ordered with that price!
Custom themes for xmb? Doesn't seem a killer-feature to me. MacOS Linux... who cares... not the end-user (who hasn't to much knowledge about operating systems) that should be clear!

back to speculating, its going to be
1. linux running once the ps3 is turned on
2. the harddrives will be loaded with all the demos that
will be at tgs (either that or one bd with them all)
3. that homebrew will be supported from day 1 to counter ms xna
4. a deal with immersion for the controllers to have rumble
5. online service will be free or maybe sony decided not to sell the 20gig ps3 instead make the 60 gig the only one at launch for $499.99
6. buy 2 games get a 3rd one for free lol.

A price drop is impossible. If it SHOULD happen. I could give back my pre-ordered PS3 within 14 days and buy the cheaper one. But what do you think Amazon or any other shop says about that?! They wouldn't be very pleased. And if $ony doesn't want to be sued because of thousands of shops have to take back the pre-ordered consoles, they wouldn't be very pleased.
So if you want to- dream on! But your nothing but a dreamer in my opinion! Your talking crap . The sad thing about it is: You SHOULD KNOW BETTER!

Its a DVR duh
Either that or a few months back when the PS3 showed an apple logo on it that wasnt a mistake, and somehow playstation and apple came into a deal and the Ps3 will feature Mac OS and itunes... its not that far fetched if you think about it... after all Xbox 360 is from microsoft... Apple is at the stage where the would do anything to counteract the "zune" ... that could explain why we really havent seen the interface and menu's that much...

I think that there might also be something in the apple pertnership, apple and sony sre actually already pretty tight

I also doubt an Apple partnership because Apple makes its own hardware, while Sony makes computers that use Windows. Also, Sony and Apple are competitors in the fields of portable media players (PSP/mylo vs. iPod) and online media stores (Connect cs. iTunes). A partnership between Sony and Apple for something video game related is no more likely than a partnership between Sony and Nintendo for something not video game related: they may not be competitors in the field in question, but they're not friendly. And unlike Sony's computers, it's not going to be Windows for the same reason. The only reasons Sony is still using Microsoft's OS for their comps are that it's been going on much longer, there isn't much of a choice (Linux and such can be used on any existing OS and again Apple only supports its own hardware for Mac), and a different method would only hurt both companies.
So what is it? There's really no frame of reference for something amazing that you'd see immediately when turning on the system. A new interface isn't an unbelievable feature, and I've already ruled out the two big operating systems. There's certainly nothing revolutionary or exciting about a new logo or lights on the system. Then again, Sony also touted the motion-sensing capabilities of the PS3 controller as a huge, revolutionary advantage despite similar technology having been used by Microsoft in a game controller 8 years ago and revealed with more features by a competitor shortly before Sony's announcement.
But maybe that's where we should look for speculations: like it or not, Sony clearly steals (feel free to substitute a different term if you're offended) technology and ideas from other companies (motion sensing from Nintendo, two price plans from Microsoft, rumble technology from Immersion). I've yet to hear a valid argument proving that Sony revealing their price plans and motion sensing after their competitors did the same things was just a coincidence that occured because Sony had the ideas first but unluckily didn't say anything until after other companies stole and released them. I haven't heard an argument at all that the Immersion lawsuit was a mistrial.
I say this not to bash Sony (I'll save that for somewhere else) but to reveal a pattern that may help us predict what Sony's planning. Though most mentions of this have been jokes, I'm going to have to give my vote to downloadable games. Microsoft started it with Xbox Live Arcade, Nintendo put their own edge on it by releasing new and classic games on the Virtual Console, and there's already been word that Sony foresees a future of downloaded games only.
