Castlevania - Image 1

Surprise, surprise. During their Castlevania press conference, which included Castlevania Judgement, Order of Ecclesia, and the live-action Castlevania movie, Konami's decided to drop quite a huge bomb on everyone: a new Castlevania game is being prepped for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Other than a quick 10-second teaser showing a guy with a blazing red sword, no details about the game were given. They just announced it, that's all.

Technically, this wasn't part of Konami's lineup for TGS, however, it looks like there was a sudden change in plans. Series creator Koji Igarashi himself said that he wasn't really expecting to announce the game during the event, saying that the release is still too far off for an early reveal now.

I'm not even entirely sure if this counts as Sony's "unannounced PS3 title from Konami."

» 2D... I wouldn't mind.

Well, SotN totally rocked. One of the best games I've ever played. EVER. Hehehe!

Tho... I'm fine with 2D... Maybe you mean side-scrolling? Cuz I can't see "2D" fitting in next-gen consoles. Sidescrollers, however, are a different story.

Like how LittleBigPlanet is sidescrolling and yet somewhat has "3D" environments since it has foregrounds and backgrounds.

If you're referring to "2D" as "sprite based", I could see that too. Having a new "Castlevania HD" sounds veeeery appealing to me right now. ^_^

... is far and away one of my all time FAVES!!!absolut ely incredible level design... totally had me convinced for years that I'd beaten only to find out "What? You flip the castle!!!!"

Good news that we're getting some more Dracula-killin' goodness. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the progress of this.

» SOTN rocked

I got my PlayStation chipped so I could play the US version as it wasn't released in the UK.

» yknow,

A 3D Castlevania might not be so bad.

I thought Curse of Darkness was pretty decent, and Lament of Innocence was actually fun if you used an online map (navigating the maze-like levels was that game's main downfall).

I could see a next-gen 3D Castlevania being pretty badass. Maybe they can beef up the combat to be more DMC-like.

I love CV series and I grew up around it. I love SON, Alucar and all but, you must admit that CV Simon Quest is pretty darn excellent - The 8-bit music was excellent too. They better keep the series 2D as 3D has always had a flaw - not sure why.
