Ten Thousand PS3 Kits Shipped to Developers

ps3This is the official statement made by Ryan Bowling, SCEA's PR Manager, which also confirms what Kaz Hirai said at E3. The announced development kit numbers sent out to developers and companies (totaling 208) is really impressive. At present, SCEA has shipped 10,000 dev systems, but some gamers are complaining they aren't seeing that many games being developed for the PS3.

Or maybe word of games still being developed for Sony's next-gen console still hasn't reached them yet. Expect that with the number of dev systems being shipped, there will be a lot of developers out there creating the most interesting games, and most of these developers are in Japan. Now this brings us to the next point - maybe these new titles and new game types we haven't seen yet will be shown at the Tokyo Game Show in September.

So keep your eyes (and ears) open for the latest news on what games will be added to the list of upcoming PS3 games.

Good news but I doubt very much they would have any code worth displaying in september if they are just getting the dev kits at the end of July. First post woohoo and all that jazz

with that much dev kits they'll be able to test what they are doing right now and develop a LOT faster, I'm sure we'll see a lot more videos in TGS this september with surely videos of games like RE5 and DMC4 =D this is great!

What do you mean no games are being developed? There are currently 160 games in active development for the PS3.

# There's more than 200+ games already announced.TheProfessor 2006-07-26 02:28
So who's complaining about not enough titles coming?

Well tell those "Gamers" that they can see the list of named games at:

There are more titles announced than is presented here but you can find the ones that have been named already.

It doesn't mean they just started. They have been sending initial SDKs since early last year. Final SDKs have probably already made their way to all current developers.

no1) playstation 3 isnt even out yet

no2) 360 has been out almost 10 months

no3) same arguement could be used when comparing 360 to wii (wii isnt out yet, and when you check their list, a third of those games haven't even got a name)

no4) playstation 3's final dev kits have only been in the hands of most developers for a month or so ( EA in Warrington UK have had theres for about 1 n half month)

Yuo can compare lists all day long, saying 360's is longer blah blah blah. Its bound to be longer, its the only bloody next gen machine out there and has been since december.

Too bad no one in Japan will care about all those numerous Xbox 360 titles. PS3 on the other hand, will win the Japanese and everybody else easily.

Honestly Microsoft doesn't need Japan to succeed, and dont be so sure PS3 is going to win like PS2 did.

The American economy is in rough shape and a $600 dollar console is just plain foolish.

Quite honestly Microsoft could have Super Preteen Panty Sniffer 4 karaoke as an exclusive title and the Japanese wouldn't buy a 360. Why??..because Microsoft is American and not a Japanese company.

I guess it's too bad Americans aren't so loyal towards American products.

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess i didnt think that comment through. Just a rush of blood to the head to get the first post :). Think with the comments Mark rein made about PS3 we are really starting to see things gel nively for the PS3. Have seen the amount of games getting launched between the ps3 launch and january and it's a lot!
