Tekken movie...What you say?

Ó

Tekken"I like Jim Carrey, and I like video games. But does that mean I'll like a video game about Jim Carey" as the saying goes, and we were thinking just that when we picked up this news from the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) website.

It seems that around this November 4, there was an announcement that a Tekken movie's in the works. Quoting the site: "A high-octane action movie about a young man who discovers he holds a great power and must battle a team of elite fighters who will stop at nothing in order to get it from him."

We're not sure if this talks about Jin Kazama or his old man, Throw-Me-In-A-Volcano Kazuya Mishima, but it looks like Namco's wanting in on the silverscreen, more so after the recently released DOA movie (When the fans think it bombed despite Kasumi's presence, you know something's wrong). Well, it's too early to tell what's gonna happen since it's just a production announcement.

If it means anything, Charles Stone III, of "Mr. 3000" and "Drumline" fame, is directing this fight flick, with a story partly written by Martin Colleary, who also wrote the story for the original Tomb Raider flick in '01. And nope, there's no announcement on the cast of characters yet, but being the Tekken fanboys/girls we are, we couldn't resist coming up with our own list for the "dream team"
  • Lei Wulong = Jacky Chan
  • Marduk = Bas Ruten
  • Bryan Fury = Jean-Claude Van Damme (Matching egos)
  • King = Rey Mysterio/Batista
  • Lili = Britney Spears/Paris Hilton (?!)
  • Ling Xiaoyu = Zhang Ziyi
  • Feng Wei = Jet Li
  • Sergei Dragunov = Christian Bale/Johnny Depp (Edward Scissorhands, remember?)
  • Bruce Irvin = Samuel L. Jackson
  • Paul Phoenix = Chuck Norris/Johnny Bravo
This is just a partial list, so feel free to comment on who else you want in. Go wild.

» ....

If they ever decide to actually make a Live-Action Tekken movie, I hope to God that it's not an all-star cast. That's what basically destroyed Street Fighter. It better be people who look almost like them as well as no names.

by tlope - 2006-11-16 22:24
» Paris Hilton and Britney Spears?

Seriously, why the hell would you want them in this movie?

by roflcopter - 2006-11-16 23:06
» wow talk about old

This was mentioned like, almost at the begining of the year

by Did you know? - 2006-11-16 23:12

Yea Paris Hilton was in "house of wax" fortunately she had very few lines and was killed off early. As far as Britney goes maybe as a last resort still don't see her in a action movie. Maybe Milla Jovovich though.

You silly americans......

by obviousness - 2006-11-17 04:10
» not so silly americans

well it cant really be the worst CHOICE (thats how u spell, btw) as the character was based on Chan, just as Law was based on Bruce Lee (if only he were around to be in the movie, R.I.P.)

P.S. just so you know, im British, not American

by sayde - 2006-11-17 04:32
» heh

Zhang Ziyi as Ling Xiaoyu = instant win!

by Tekken fanboy - 2006-11-17 04:46
» King = Rey Mysterio/Batista

Rey Mysterio's too short to be King...Maybe if we added the luchador mask to Batista...that should work.

» a

hey, just get chuck norris to round-house kick everybody in the face and you're assured to get a blockbuster!

by Jin - 2006-11-17 13:10
» Oh congrats.

You're the first person to bring up "This is old," usually it's just for homebrew, but thank you for letting us know this is old news. You're the man, dip*****. ; )

Also, the animated movie of Tekken is awesome, and it's mostly featured around Kazuya, anyone seen it? Jin wasn't in it nearly enough, just as a child, so they need up make an updated movie... although I'm not sure a live-action cast is the way to go.

by Game Guru - 2006-11-17 13:15
» I have a better lineup

Man these guys are *****ing nuts. Some of the people on that line up aren't even martial artists. Stick to the Genre and Feel of the Fighting. This is my lineup ...

Lei - Chow Yun Fat ( Legendary Cop in most of his movies )

Bruce - Tony Jaa Same Style and Everything

Jack - Arnold Schwartz of Course

Bryan Fury - Jean Claude Van Damme is good, but I think George Clooney would be better like they had him with the tattoo on his neck in the movie "Dusk till dawn"

Looks hella lot like fury in that movie.

Lili - Uma Thurman hands down

Nina - Should be Gina Davis ( From the movie A long Kiss Goodnight )

Marduk - Batista

King - Eddie Guerrero Wouldve been the best choice for this, but I would have to say since he isn't here the next best person that fits his Character Physically is "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner.

Raven - Wesley Snipes

Wan - Mr.Miagi from the Karate Kid

Heihachi - Mr. Miagi's Brother from Okinawa in Karate Kid Part 2.

Kazuya and anna - The 2 Lover Assassins from the movie Hero.

Jin - The Son of Mr. Miagi's Brother from Okinawa. or "Johnny" from Tom Yum Goong.

Paul - Val Kilmer or Chuch Norris

Law - Only Person I can think of is Bruce Lee or his son.

Yoshimitzu - Could just be a robot made up with special AI ability to feel like a human and become a samurai.

Steve - Oscar De la Hoya with Blond Hair.

Hwoarang - Could be the Taekwondo Guy from Ong Bak in the club scene.

Baek - Could be "Quick Silva" the teacher from the Karate Kid.

Eddie - Could be the guy with "Fear" branded on his chest which makes a Capoera appearance in Tom Yum Goong.

Dragunov - The General from Fist of Legend or Johnny Depp.

Feng - Jet Li or Gordon Liu ( Masta Killa or also known as the White Locust Monk from Kill Bill Volume 2.

If u dont like my cast let me know.

» Tekken Movie Plot

TEKKEN MOVIE PLOT.

If Crystal Sky is going to do the Tekken movie they should re-write the script and follow the plot from Tekken 2 game that is how the first Tekken live action with the King Of Iron Fist Tournament story to feature To make the film is not to make the movie loosey if it does then its too cheesy and lame,so the Tekken movie storyline should be focus on the characters from the Tekken 2 game.

If there is Tekken 2 sequel they will have Tekken 3 characters in the film.

Tekken should be shot in locations including Japan,Hong Kong and US.

I better stick with Street Fighter it is better than Tekken.

Thank You.
