Tekken 6 magazine scan - Image 1

Here's a bit of interesting news on Tekken 6. It seems that the game is being penciled in for a December launch for the Sony PlayStation 3. The catch being, it may not be for the console alone.

A chat with Namco yielded hints that Sony did not have a grip on exclusivity for the latest installment of the illustrious fighting game franchise. Could this be signaling another big heist for Microsoft?

The scan above says it all. You can click on it to view it in full. We'll give you more updates as we go along.

Tekken on any other system than playstation will just feel weird, even if it aint exclusive i think all those memories of Tekken on playstation will come flodding back and playstation Tekken sales would always be higher than any other platform it might be released on. Tekken and Sony just go together.

Tekken has always been one of those Playstation games, ever since the PS1 with Tekken 1, it has always been developed for the Arcades and Playstation in mind, I have to agree that if it was on another console it would just be weird, and hell, I'll even say Awkward, after 13 years of playing the game with Playstation controllers, using a 360 controller to fight on Tekken is just alien.

I must agree with the others. It would feel odd with a 360 controller. Besides, I've seen a lot of 360 owners that prefered DOA over Tekken.. yeah.

well, if they made a PS-controller-adapter to the x360....

no way, it isn't possible.

well, you could be right, but (hate to do this but..) Final Fantasy was actually a Playstation game, too. At least from 7 to X-2 and 12, where the biggest successes were.

Tekken 6 was specifically optimized to run on the ps3 hardware, even in the arcades it's actually a PS3 inside the bloody arcade cabinet, so i doubt it'll hit the 360.. anyway, don't speak too soon about how and spitting out rubbish rumors that'll hit the 360 unless we want to hear it from namco bandai themselves.

I think Tekken 6 won't be exclusive as in it will be on PS3 and in Arcades but I don't think it will go to Xbox 360, Wii, or even PC. I think PS3 has more of a chance of getting DOA5 (along with Xbox 360 of course) seeing as how oatmeal face left.

DOA5? Weren't the company that makes these games bought by microsoft studios? It's unlikely to come right?

# less optimisation perhaps?na2rul 2008-07-23 07:26
besides, the epilogues were always in CG. I always loved them too. I want my epilogues to look nice on my HD screen.

Btw, most ps3 exclusives look great so far

Regardless of the situation with Tekken, I'd certainly pay for one of those. I pretty well hate the pudgy 360 controller with the non-uniform analog sticks. Silly. A DualShock3 running on 360 would be awesome. ....And if that were possible, I'd immediately add running a Driving Force Pro on the 360 to the wish-list. :-)

Tekken has always been a "killer app" for me, one of the major reasons I have bought and stuck with Sony consoles. I would feel a little betrayed if it went multi-platform.

based on the photo w/ the interview.. why did he say.. that it is not yet determined whether it would be exclusive... are they still waiting for Sony? somekind of a confirmation? felt so betrayed if it would go multi-platform.. seriously.. all these exclusives getting multiplatform sucks..
