Ninja Gaiden Sigma - Image 1

Team Ninja's own Yosuke Hayashi, who is in charge of producing and directing the highly-anticipated Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the PlayStation 3, let loose some strong fighting words for critics of Sony's shiny black console - specifically, how Ninja Gaiden Sigma will shut them up with sheer magnificence and awesomeness.

Well, not exactly that, but he's pretty confident about it. "I have heard much criticism of the PS3, but I am confident that Ninja Gaiden Sigma will demonstrate how powerful the PS3 really is," pointed out Yosuke Hayashi.

He explained by citing the difficulty in making a multiplatform title, particularly how hard it is to focus on one system's specifications and capabilities. Hayashi elaborated,

Multi-format videogames have boomed in recent years, but when you make a game for multiple formats you cannot focus on one machine's specific capabilities - you have to focus on a common ground for all formats.

And that is how Team Ninja operates. "It is Team Ninja's policy to push a console to its limit and set high standards. Team Ninja wanted to make Ninja Gaiden Sigma the best action game it could be, and push gaming standards to its upper limit. That is why we chose to make the game for PS3."

If that's the case, then why an Xbox title remake instead of a new title altogether? Yosuke responds by saying Team Ninja considers Ninja Gaiden as the number one action game around, so they went with remaking it for the PS3.

He then discussed the key points that could very well make Ninja Gaiden Sigma the killer title for the PlayStation 3 - citing the game's usage of many graphical techniques. One of them is self-shading, and the fact that it could do all that in 1080p resolution and still run at a silky-smooth 60 frames per second.

» this must be

the greatest looking port of a game ever

by nbm - 2007-06-13 09:11
» Game is good but who cares about 1080p

Only shows if you have a tv 47 inches 1080p or bigger. M$ said that the ps3 couldn't do it, it happened then they said it wasn't needed, and now they have games in 1080p. Im also guessing the xbox 360 is getting ninja gaiden 2 which would probaly never go to the ps3 and the ps3 users would want to go out and buy a xbox 360 after paying Ninja gaiden sigma. Halo is garbage so is Resistance and the wii get off your fat asses and buy xbox 360 and ps3 and play the wii at your lil cousins house..............simple as that....

» 666

I bet you that Ninja Gaiden 2 will go to the PS3 sooner or later if Ninja Gaiden Sigma sells well.

by nbm - 2007-06-13 09:38
» maybe

If it sells that well (probaly is since theres no new games out) then its going to be an xbox 360 timed exclusive if anything. And a year later re-release it on the ps3 with all the downloadable content from xbox live. But I really think Ninja Gaiden 2 will be an XBox 360 exclusive.

by Creighton - 2007-06-13 09:42
» ummmm

I like Resistance a lot...

by ACC - 2007-06-13 09:46
» Resistance and Halo 3 are trash

I hate both of those games and the Nintendo wii. Gears of War and Motorstorm are better.

by joe - 2007-06-13 10:44
» to xbox fanboys

team ninja basically stated they choose ps3 for ninja gaiden because they feel its the best/most powerful platform to push the action genre to its limits ... so wouldnt that mean ninja gaiden 2 will be on the ps3 as well

» 37" and 1080p is visible

I have a 37" 1080P LCD, and I'm a bit tired of the people who DON'T have hidef propagating this common untruth that 1080 vs 720 cannot be seen unless you have a mammoth screen. Additionally, I can tell a difference (albeit subtle, depending on source material) between 1080i and 1080p. But, the concept that the difference between 1080 vs 720 vs 480 cannot be seen unless you've got about a 50", is a definite misnomer.

by billy - 2007-06-13 11:03
» sort of true...

I don't think I'd consider it a port though...it's more of a remake. They copied the game, but started from scratch.

by LiquidZ3r0 - 2007-06-13 11:11
» idk

why people are jumping to the conclusion that the ps3 wont get NG 2.

To the retards up there: It doesnt mean you hate them, it just means that you suck balls at those type of games and why would you say to get off your fat asses, to those who have Wii's? They're the ones moving around the most, maybe its us who should go out and buy a Wii since we're just sitting down.

by WTF!?!?!?!?! - 2007-06-13 11:16
» WTF!?!?!?!?!

This game sucks in my opinion. The demo was horrible. It's nothing but YET ANOTHER hack'n'slash game.

"I am confident that Ninja Gaiden Sigma will demonstrate how powerful the PS3 really is"

BS!!!!!! Based on the demo it is FAR FROM IT!

by koor - 2007-06-13 11:20
» 1080i and 1080p your really not missing out on anything

I think what NBM meant was 1080p and 1080i because there really isn't much of a difference between the two depending of the size of the tv. Obviously your really not going to see a BIG difference between 32"-37". So if anyone plans on getting a tv 32-37 inches shouldn't be worried about 1080p and your really not going to see a big difference at that size (1080i or 1080p)anyway.

by bubbles - 2007-06-13 11:27
» might do

This game might show how powerful the ps3 is, but it doesnt make it a good game

No one said it was a good game - but the demo ran very smoothly and looked pretty

Hopefully the whole game will look even better

but like i said the demo wasnt that much fun to play

» The game LOOKS and FEELS amazing

My friend told me yesterday that his game looks and feels amazing. he said that the ps3 version s***s on the xbox version and with graphics and gameplay like this in about 2 years microsoft is gonna come out with an announcement saying its time for a new system becuz technology is shifting so fast!!

by theTick197 - 2007-06-13 12:08
» well ive got 1080p on a 20 inch screen

If you want to get hi def for a low cost you can just either get a dvi monitor and then get hdmi to dvi cable, or you can get a vga monitor some component cables and this thing. http://www.x2vga.com/ works great i tell ya.

by Shatterdome - 2007-06-13 13:34
» what if...

Your friend is an idiot, or say, doesn't have the same taste in games and gameplay as everyone else ? NEVER base your opinion on ANYTHING off of what SOMEONE ELSE says, play/use it yourself to decide.

Also, MS will definately come out with a new console in 2-3 years....the life of a console is typically 4 years before the next generation comes out...doesn't mean they will stop supporting 360, just means something better will come along, because there will definately be better tech out. Sony is smoking crack if it thinks it's not going to release another console in 10 years and still keep up with technology....as it is there are Cells twice as powerful as the one in PS3 comming out very shortly....

» Noticed Something

You know i've noticed every game ps3 has coming out theres like a huge group of people who come out and and say its rubbish. Its like if it aint a 360 game its rubbish, but vise versa if its a 360 game oh dear god u see carnivals lol, but its obvious what it is admit it or not their scared and want to dog as much as they can to justify what they bought. One again ps3 is doing 1080p its rubbish, lol the question is would it be rubbish if 360 was doing it the same?

Peace Out

» Ninja Gaiden Sigma is an experiment

Team Ninja is experimenting with this game and see how well it sells. If it sells well then that means that there is a market available for this game on both consoles. And it be foolish of their part to ignore this market.

by droopysp - 2007-06-13 17:49
» Oh Shatterdome why do you troll the PS3 Section?

You are that one that is smoking crack if you think Microsoft is going to keep supporting the Xbox 360 after Xbox 720 is out. Look at what they did with the original Xbox they automaticaly stopped all support for the Xbox. Any Xbox game that was going to be released was either canceled or moved to the Xbox 360. Sony did good with its word some PS2 games are still being released and I think that is what is affecting the PS3. Lay off the crack and stay the hell away from the PS3 section.

» Missed the point

Many of you seem to be missing the point of this artical. The artical stresses the fact that Team Ninja is the type of development studio that looks at a system and attempts to max out the possibilites. Regardless of the fact that they are choosing to remake an xbox game, the goal of the project was to test the PS3's limits and capabilities. If you look back, the xbox was actually a better piece of hardware than the PS2 was, which was in all likelyhood why Team Ninja chose to use that system in the first place. Its nieve to think that they would not choose to develop on whatever the best piece of hardware out is, which is right now the PS3.

For those of you talking about the 1080p capabilities, keep in mind that the majority of the public does not have a tv with 1080p output capability, although it is a nice feature and excentuates the PS3's power. Team Ninja shows with this game that the PS3 can output at 1080p without slowing down the framerate.

lastly, for those of you who are talking about the next-gen console war, Most financial market analysts (including myself) have predicted that the PS3 will take the lead in the console war by late 2010 or 2011. The xbox360 is doing well right now because it was released a year earlier than the PS3 and the wii. It is also more of a struggle for developers who make multiplatform games to create the PS3 version of the game. Keep in mind, however, that the main source of income comes from the game selection. The PS3 will trail until developers create games that excentuate the PS3's capabilities, and until the quality of the selection of PS3-only games surpasses the selection of xbox360-only games. The battle between the HD-DVD and the Blue Ray disk will have a major role in the outcome of the console war. I personally believe that the Blue Ray disk will come out on top because of its storage capability, the copy-protection, and the fact that 14 or 15 of the top 20 movie Blockbusters were released on Blue Ray but not on HD-DVD this year.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

"its a damn demo, of course the final version will look better"

That's an assumption on your part. Just because something is a demo, that doesn't mean it doesn't represent the full product. If it was a BETA then you would at least have some sort of point to make. But it isn't and you don't.

@666 - I can agree the game has some value. I guess I'm just getting tired and bored of these types of games and I didn't see this one bringing anything new to the table.

by uhh - 2007-06-14 07:10

i know a remake of a 10 year old game would silent your ass......and i bet i dont have to even give a title

by Shatterdome - 2007-06-14 10:05
» Well...

Firstly, I never said they would definately keep supporting it....secondly, I won't care because i'll buy the new one when it's released anyways....thirdly, it will probably be a good thing if BG is not involved in the next one, as he is a software engineer, and doesn't know much about Hardware....fourthly, sorry if I hit a nerve there buddy but I am not staying away, because I am not trolling I am just stating facts....

Go look at technology 10 years ago, and tell me you would like to still be playing with that....and the pace at which technology is progressing is getting even faster and will not slow down....so have fun playing with you 10 year old tech, i'm sure you will still beleive everything sony tells you and think it's perfectly fine....

» shatterdome

Wow Sony sells you something that cost $600 tells you it will last 10 years, and you say it's overpriced.

M$ sells you a system for $400 charges you $50 a year for 4 years to play on-line, and expects you to do this every 4 years and Sony are the rip-off artists. You idiot xboys don't see whats going on, Bill is making consoles like Windows- whether you want to or not every 4 years you must upgrade- even if it's not truly next-gen. Yet Sony and NINtendo would rather support the same console for 10 years. You xbots bought an unfinished system, scream about how everything it does is great and everything it lacks is unnecessary,( until you get it ). The tech in consoles is never cutting edge, computer are nearly always ahead, but console gamers don't want to spend as much money on gaming that's why we have a console. We paid $600 for the ps3 for the function and the fact that it would last at least 6 years, that's what we want.
