EE Times reports that TDK has just begun shipping 25GB recordable and rewritable Blu-ray Disc media nationwide. TDK is the first company to start selling bare Blu-Ray based media.Retail pricing is set at $19.99 for a 25 GB BD-R (Recordable), $24.99 for a 25 GB BD-RW (Rewritable).
Additionally, TDK will ship 50 GB Blu-ray Disc media later this year. They will be priced at $47.99 for a 50GB BD-R (Recordable) and $59.99 for a 50G B BD-RW (Rewritable).
TDK is manufacturing the Blu-ray Discs at its Chikumagawa Techno Factory in Japan. The company uses a high-sensitivity, copper silicon material recording material for long-lasting performance.Unfortunately, equipment to play the Blu-ray Discs remains scarce. It's still waiting for its killer application, i.e. the PS3. It will be interesting to see the response to Blu-Ray once the PS3 is released. Samsung has delayed U.S. introduction of Blu-ray Disc players until late June.

thats an additional $47.99 PER GAME for the PS3, that doubbles the price.
ofcourse that would be the additional price per game if it did, indeed ship in spring.
by november my prediction is $25 per 50gb disc, still alot, but thats about half of what it is now. so expect to pay $75-$90 per game for the PS3 until they can get the price further down. (it wont be less, all PS3 games HAVE to be on Blu-Ray unlike the PS2 which allowed CD or DvD at the begining of the PS2's life)
thats not even accounting for the whole gaming industry demanding a $10 increase on games, so that raises the price to about $85-$100 per game.

While it may be $20 a disk to buy recordable, it is probably around $10ish for them to stamp em in the factory, so it isn't contributing as much to the game prices, and in a couple years it'll be down to the price to mass-produce DVDs
