Takeuchi spills some bloody Resident Evil 5 info (rawr) |

Ó
We haven't smelled any decaying Umbrella Corp. corpses for quite some time now. Capcom might be going all hushy-hushy on us about Resident Evil 5, but worry you not. Jun Takeuchi just spilled some zombie juice on the much-awaited sequel, and it's anything but decaying corpses.
He's pitching that this next RE installment that's coming out for both the 360 and PS3 could only possibly be available by 2008. "Ouch," you might be saying. That really is a long wait, indeed. However, the wait could just be worth it. Takeuchi states that Capcom wants the picture rate to run on 60fps. Lovely.
The engine they're using makes it possible for them to produce realistic facial expressions and animations. They're even boasting of some good hair days for the characters as each strand of hair would be modelled from root to tip!
Takeuchi reveals that RE5 would have more interactive environments this time around - much more interactive than its predecessors. More than this, he even hints that hot and cold temperatures would play a crucial element in the gameplay. The temperature of your surroundings would supposedly determine your character's stability.
If all this is any indication, then 2008 doesn't seem all that bad. Why? Would you want Capcom to release a stale corpse of a game, or would you rather have them come out with a zombie feast that's minced to perfection?

well i think saying that it will be out in 2008 is better than saying fall 2007....then delaying it to 2008.

None the less I will gladly wait 2 years for RE: 5 just because 4 was so breathtaking I want them to have all the time they need to make 5 all that it can be.

Basically your saying this company rather sell it's product in a luke warm market rather than a hot market.

This is not surprising because both consoles are similar in terms of power, therefore RE5 will look just as good on both consoles.

...for multiplatform titles developed for both consoles (i.e. not ports), there's little difference between the two consoles, with the 360 looking and performing better in many cases (Gamespot, 1Up and others have done comparisons).
Also, it mustn't be forgotten that the PS3 was delayed by 6-9 months, since it was originally due to launch in the spring. Just look at the games released on the 360 6-9 months after launch. 6-9 months can make a big difference.
Therefore we can't pretend this delay hasn't had a beneficial effect on PS3 launch games, and so the comparison isn't as simple as comparing launch games either.
After E3 2005, and for over a year afterwards, many gamers were insisting that the PS3 was twice as powerful as the 360, but the current games prove that idea to be wrong, since even if you took everything into account, there's no way several multiplatform games will look and run better on the 360 if this was true. The PS3 is slightly more powerful overall, but not enough to make a big difference.
Still, there's a lot more to come from each console, and so the best graphics will come mostly from exclusive games built from the ground up on each console.

xbox fans has already stated that the game is graphically far inferior than even Gears of War...and although the trailer was an alpha stage.....it is still dissapointing.
oh well.....it is microsofts way to creat a hype from everything....reminds me of the xbox one....microsoft called it a [Nuclear reactor]....and..well... :)
i played halo one on my pc.....with all do respect....i do not understand why it was so hyped....it wasnt a bad game...but heck....there are faaar superior shooters.....even halo,s lead designer in an interview with IGN...clearly said that the reason for Halo,s succes...was..wait for it....TIMING...not the game...but [timing].
he said if the game was released on another system....it would have never gained that attention...hes pretty honest.
oh well.....wish i could do something....but..never mind.

Gamespot was sponsored by MSN to advertize for microsoft....that site..[is completely Biased towards microsoft].
it never posts good ps3 news....it always give ps3 games terrible scores....even NBA2K7...which was superior than the xbox360 version was given a lower score....same for full auto 2..which is far better than the 360 version yet was given 5.7..!!
the same goes for 1UP...completly biased...they didnt even REVIEW NBA2K7 for the ps3.
Finally....for Gears of war..i,l make it short.
to propely understan how long this game was in development.....then you have to understand that this games Uses the UnrealEngine 3 [i believe most of you already know].
it means that the games technical prowess comes from the engine......NOW...that engine has been in developmet...pay attention....before the xbox360 was even announced...waaaay before the ps3.
what EPIC did...is simply tune the already years in devlopment engine for the 360....thus actual development for GOW can be said to be more than 4 years...
even with that...the game is reported to have considerable slowdown in multi-player gaming...[even though its only 8 players]...which suggests that the game is pushing the 360 greatly
there may be room for improvment....but i dont think they can go too much further.
in the end...its important to say that the UE3 is OPENGL based.....meaning that it will work [Better on the ps3 than the 360]...since it has an nvidia GPU....and nvidia is known to have superior performance in opengl...
well..that all....wish i can talk more but...

Firstly, the PC port was 2 years later! It wasn't even a very good port, so it's hardly the best way to judge a game. Resistance is a good FPS for example, but two years from now there will be FPSs on the PS3 that would make RFoM look VERY average.
Secondly, Halo was noted for being the first FPS to pull so many different elements together seamlessly into one game. No PC FPS in November 2001, had a seamless integration of indoor and outdoor environments, excellent physics, vehicles (both land and air) with superb driving models, and such advanced AI for the enemy (even better than Half-life).
I'd played and finished Half-life on the PC long before and it was my favourate FPS, until I played Halo.
So imo, Halo is far from over-hyped. Oh and, I value Halo for the gameplay, not the graphics!
And Halo's lead designer did not say it's ONLY about timing. You remind me of the idiots who say the Playstation's success was all down to timing and luck. Well yes, there were factors which swung it in Sony's favour, but without a great console to begin with, Sony would not have been able to capitalise on the opportunity. The same with Halo, if it wasn't a great FPS, then no amount of 'timing' would have made it the success it was.

Which is why Gamespot were one of the few to go so crazy over the PS3 during E3 2005 that they believed the Killzone trailer was realtime (because a Sony rep told them).
Gamespot are not biased towards one console. A year ago, it was the opposite, with XBox fanboys claiming GS were bias towards Sony, because of all the reports and previews. This changed after E3 2006 when the benefit of the doubt many gave towards the PS3 evaporated into the harsh reality.
"the same goes for 1UP...completly biased...they didnt even REVIEW NBA2K7 for the ps3"
Whenever a website doesn't say the things gamers want to read, they immediately cry out 'BIAS'. Pathetic.

lmao, unreal engine hasnt been opengl based since unreal 1, it has opengl codepaths, but also 3dfx codepaths back in the day, now unreal engine is optimized for directx ( ut2k3 is soo poor in opengl), unreal engine and the source engine are both engine that run best on directx, you are probably mistaken with the quake/doom3 engine, which is opengl based ( prey uses it).
i dont really care that much about the delay for re5, cause it will be an outstanding game, even more so at 60fps, but it would be cool if they would up res RE4 a bit and release that for next gen as well, so we have some "next" gen RE to play in 2007 at least, meh, they dont even have to up res it xD
