Takeuchi: black people are working on RE5

That whole racism issue that early trailers of Resident Evil 5 (PS3, Xbox 360) created just wouldn't die, would they? Just when you thought that we all put a lid on that one, Jun Takeuchi revisited the topic in a recent interview.

Answering the statement made by N'Gai Croal in an article some months ago that the are "clearly no black people" working on Resident Evil 5, Capcom's Jun Takeuchi said:

To answer the question that was posted on your blog, there are black members in the development team. We do have staff working on the game, who are aware of the historical background and we are constantly checking these kinds of things with them.

And for the record, the Resident Evil 5 producer answered a burning question. Does he own a chainsaw? His response:

No I donÂ’t own a chainsaw. In real life theyÂ’re pretty scary. Just having them in the game is enough.

I never understood why this was an issue in the first place? It's ok to kill a mess of white people in Res Evil 4 yet white people played it like crazy. It's ok to kill a mess of Mexicans in GRAW and I sold a whole bunch to Mexican customers who enjoyed it. Who exactly is getting upset about this game? Haven't heard one black customer complain about this, so who is it? The setting is Africa, there are bound to be black people there, whether they are from the Congo or Egypt. It's going to happen. I thought that every zombie being black was racist, yes. There aren't many black dominated places like Africa is the first and only one that comes to mind.

As a black person, I understand how black people think this is racist. At first site, we think of it as a white dev (who we assume is racist) killing black people. That is why we see it at first, but if look at it rationally (along with the Africa thing) you say well that is only natural.

Take GTA for example. There are tons of people roaming the streets in GTA games, and they're all racially diverse. You start killing random people in the game, and right when you kill a colored person, everyone has to go all in an uproar? One that doesnt have historical presidence to back it up.

Wtf are you talking about?? The only time any GTA game that wasnt San andreas got called racist, was in the GTA when the two characters are saying specifically derogatory remarks about Hatians, and how they are dirty and stinking, and that they should kill all hatians. Oh Gee, why would a hatian person be offended by that ??

And the reason why San Andreas got flak was because it dealt with issues that are a true epidimic in USA urban cities. And the fact that such exploitation was created by white devs just because the subject matter is "popular" with teens. If you dont know what teh word exploiation is then try looking it up. This takes place in a "fictitious" Africa with "fictitious" African zombies so it has nothing to do with the 60's 70' or any other period in American history. Show me where in history "fictitious" African zombies were ever treated any differently than "fictitious" white zombies and I will retract my statement. I'm not whining about how the Irish were ever treated, I was making the point that just about every group of people could find something in their history that would be considered less than desirable or even terrible treatment. No I have not visted the Museum of Tolerance (the name sounds too politically correct for me) but I have visited the Holocaust Museum in my state. The majority of those ppl who thought it "seemed" racist had never touched a R game. What ppl are saying is that it was logical for SOME ppl to think it may be racist after A) never touching a RE game, B) experienced decades of negative minority stereotypes in media, ficticious or not.
