Take-Two mum on US$ 50 million deal with Microsoft for GTA IV extra content exclusivity |

The last time we reported on GTA IV having extra downloadable content, we reported on the fact that it might not be as cross-platform as originally promised by Take-Two Interactive, and that the publishing firm itself was offered a large sum of cash for episodic content exclusivity (the offer-rer being Microsoft). Now, with exclusivity all but confirmed, Take-Two's keeping quiet on just what really went down in that fateful day where the two companies made the deal.
So just what really happened? We don't know for sure, but let's look back at what we know. Take-Two's Chief Financial Officer revealed that they've secured the advance payment - a cool US$ 25 million for the first episode, with another lump of cash in the same exact amount on the way for the second downloadable.
Microsoft wasn't explicitly mentioned at all, but since them packs of downloadable goodness are currently slated to be exclusive for the Xbox 360, it's not really rocket science to connect the dots. But even with all the evidence pointing to one single conclusion, it's all moot until Take-Two actually confirms or denies it - which it's yet to do.
It's certainly a bit unexpected, with Take-Two's move to release extra content for the Xbox 360 only - but it certainly makes sense, considering that the company's not doing so hot. More updates on this issue as we get them, so keep it locked right here.

Microsoft is serious about not being number 2, or 3 this round. The gate to Gate's wallet has just been lifted. All this just for some episodic content... for 50 million I would have thought that would have given them an exclusive game. So what the hell is going to be great about the ps3 version?
man this really does suck major ass they said they were guna make the game equal and as unbiased as they can and now the 360 gets extra EXCLUSIVE!!!!!! Content im not as annoyed as u think i got both 360 n PS3 but was gunna get GTA4 for PS3 (Always got GTA for a Playstation) and still will but now looks like ill have to get the 360 version next year wen the episodes r released but i honestly do hop they make 2 or 3 episodes for the PS3 to go back on thier word but end of the day thier choice!!!! You can expect to see this type of thing happening quite frequently as more and more companies get tempted by the mighty wallet.
I can understand PS3 owners being upset about this if it turns out to be true - I would be pissed if I had a PS3 and not a 360. But it doesn't make any sense to bash Microsoft for it (as one commenter already has) since they didn't really do anything wrong; that's the way business works. Welcome to capitalism. And DJ Natas is right, anyway; it's very likely that the PS3 will still get the extra content, just later. As for the guy who said he planned to buy both versions of the game, I think you should rethink that; the 360 version will be exactly the same as the PS3 version, but with the extra content.

duh. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out MS paid off RS for the exclusive content. It's nothing new for MS, they through money around all the time to get games to their system. Hell they bought Bungie, Rare and Lionhead who consequently makes the box's biggest titles; Halo, PD and Fable.

Microsoft is so desperate, and things aren't just going for them. Not to mention the some 1,500 block busters selling ONLY Blu-Ray and only 250 selling BOTH Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. I'd feel bad if I was a 360 owner....
But the 360 has no HD-DVD player so we can buy whatever player we wish. I'd feel bad if I was still pretending to enjoy resistance and motorstorm.
GTA is only one disc fool. The "blu ray is needed for gaming" crap sony fed you is BS, and this game will prove that.
