Ever since the smashing success of GTA III, we've seen games branded as "GTA clones" trying to deliver the same experience Rockstar gave. One after another, these titles would either be looked down upon as mediocre, or simply put down as bad. Few exceptions exist, such as Saint's Row, but nothing has come close to the king of sandbox games.
The entire gaming industry is now waiting for the latest installment, GTA IV; lawyers will defy it, American teenagers will embrace it. 2 Days to Vegas begs to differ - developer Steel Monkey Ltd claims that the game will be more immersive than its competition. While there aren't enough information to make a judgement on that, pictures are available to compare the two in terms of eye-candy.
The folks over at PSU placed the two side by side, and here they are:
Like what PSU said, this is a pretty tough call. Seems like GTA IV is more atmospheric, while 2 Days to Vegas is on the brighter side. Both have amazing details with very realistic feel. Looks like they're toe-to-toe, but looks aren't everything. After all, GTA never had the best graphics but everything flopped before it.

They both look awsome in there own way, i still think GTA will be more fun but i will deffinatley have to get both, both unique looking games and have great graphics
Never even heard of 2 days to vegas but now im gonna buy it. It looks wonderful but GTA still has the edge in gfx.

They definately have their own style, but overall, mainly in the lighting/reflection department....GTA owns this game....which i've never heard of
I think GTA has better environments, but the Vegas game has better character/vehicle models. But who can tell with these little-ass images, right?
you kniw why vegas city will look better? because it REAL NYC.... meaning real trains real locations some real buildings if they get the rights to use them and a much more real feeling of nyc. gameplay wise who knows. i lvoed GTA series but gtasa killed it for me
2 days to vegas has the same graphics as all other gta clones. The city just looks too damn clean, there's no atmosphere of city like in gta III or other gta's.
due to what i've seen on both games, i say 2 Days To Vegas is sharper clearer. oh and the Getaway is also looking to be on Par with 2 Days To Vegas, but game play wise, GTA4 will be better. i will get these 3 titles once i miraculously find it on Japanese store shelves, and heck miracles do happen because i found/bought GTA liberty city stories (2.0) here in Japan just a few days after its American release.
GTA SA did ruin the franchise for me too, with it all being based on stupid gangstas

Even if the graphics are good in 2 days to vegs, pretty all the GTA clone games haven't been able to match GTA for gameplay. All the PS2 GTA clone games were pretty bad in comparison.
The two can't be compared, GT4 has some of the best level designers. I see much lacking in their levels (2 days to something) compared to GT4. I'm going to bet that GTA4 will have better action. This is a first hearing about that 2 days to ghey town. I can't believe that game company would actually copy GTA4 like this.

by GTA clone you mean games where you can drive cars and shoot right? well maybe you havent realised but thats not a GTA clone... its a genre, and besides that DRive started 3d free roaming and driving away from cops GTA just added weapons.

hate to say it but, as someone said earlier 2 days 2 vegas is vapourware. Those same screen shots were being shown couple months before the 360 launched. Unless they have a huge showing at e3 i doubt its ever gonna come out.
I was wondering when 2Days To Vegas will come out.I saw something about that game a while ago but when the PS3 finally came out i never heard of it again. I'm gonna get both of them!!!

2DAYS iseems more like driver than GTA
DRIVER 3 had better graphics than GTA SA but Driver 3 wasnt a sandbox.
We still have to see if 2DAYS is open world or just like Driver3
remember the game die hard trilogy - the driving 1....that had potential
GTA looks better. The light effects are more advance then 2 days 2 vegas. In GTA4 when you are outside it's look like outside not a 3d world.

GTA IV has definitely got some ultra-real shading going on. It gives each screenshot a 'lived-in' look. The only thing I wonder is will both run at 1080p? It may be that GTA will run at 720p with blending up full blast, and 2 Days 2 Vegas will run at 1080p with less shading. --Certainly, all my own pie-in-the-sky theories. GTA definitely has the edge from these screens.

all the screenshots of gta are on 360 and in debug mode so the final ps3 should look much better than it does now. 2 days to vegas looks great tho

according to the steel monkey site, 2dtv is for release on pc. no comparison is fair.
in an unrelated point, steel monkey studios looks like it has produced some fairly average work in the past, has a staff of around five, and is all talk. i'll believe it when i see it but i reckon we could be comparing those same 2dtv screen to gta V.
but i could be wrong..
Yeah i did a'lil research and Steal monkey is small and there previous games hit the rock bottom , in fact they have quite the knack for creating games very similar to other already successful orginal games. well facts don't lie, Google it people.
besides GTA will be successful anyway it already has a very large fan base.
and the screenies are no comparison. PC's will always be more powerful then consoles. 8800GTX ultra, ATI's R600. DX10 , nuff said.
In Conclusion, the game may not be a ""clone"" but it is using the same basis. and GTA pretty much (except Driver) created it, they'll always be better.

2 days to vegas is not vapourware. It is set to release in early 2008. Theres a recent article about the devs saying they dont wanna leak info about it and their keeping quiet for a reason.
