PS3It's not only in the U.S. that the PlayStation 3's launch is proving to be a momentous event. Over at Taiwan, it has been reported that the initial quota for its market has already been completely booked. And like in the U.S., the launch has been set for November 17th.

While the sources from the Taipei office of Sony Computer Entertainment Kong Kong (SCEH) declined to disclose exactly how much PS3s will the Taiwan market be getting, they did say matter-of-factly that local consumers who failed to place pre-orders will most likely miss the PS3 on the day of its launch.

Then again, it's also been said that "a small volume of PS3 have already been imported into Taiwan via unofficial channels", which have been tagged at prices way above the suggested retail price from SCEH. Supposedly, those imported through unofficial means (60 GB model) are heavily priced at NT$36,000 (US$ 1,100) to NT$48,000 (US$ 1,468). The standard retail price is supposed to be NT$17,980 (US$ 547.82).

That seems a lot, but anything to get the (arguably) most promising console hardware-wise right?
