Rumor: Syphon Filter 5 in Development? - Image 1

Syphon Filter 5 anyone? The game is the subject of the latest rumor circulating the Intarwebs. It seems that one of Kotaku's readers spotted a couple of hints that led to speculation that the Sony Bend studio is busy cooking up the latest entry to the franchise.

It started when Sony Bend posted a job opening for a game tools programmer with experience on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Not enough to say that they're making a new game, but then this comes along. PCB Productions, a digital content studio in L.A., posted Facial Motion Capture credits for Syphon Filter 5 from Sony Bend.

Logical conclusion: Sony Bend is working on Syphon Filter 5. Reality check: it could just be a typo. Well there's a Syphon Filter game for every Sony platform now, so an entry for this gen seems overdue.

h yes, nother great exclusive for the PS3. Unlike *****star Games, Sony isn't bribed by $50 million dollars to stay on a *****ty platform.

Sounds cool. Another succesful Playstation brand that is welcome on the PS3. I've only played the PSP ones which I found very enjoyable. I might download the PS1 games that are currently on Sony Europe PSN. Which reminds me... Does anyone know why only 1 and 3 are available but not number 2? Same goes for Crash Bandicoot actually.

And my girlfriend's still wondering why we don't have the first Spyro the Dragon on PSN here yet the other PSN's do... Castlevania - Symphony of the Night would be very nice in Europe too. Grr.

I wonder how the story would continue. Logan died in the last game. It wouldn't be the same without Logan.

syphon filter 2 was a two disc ps1 game but i dont know if that means anything. since the series went ps2 it sucked in my eyes. and to the guy who said gabe is dead, remember that chance killed teresa in 2 and came back in 3.

Why is Sony's Studio looking for x360 experienced talent?

Well his death was never confirmed. There was no blood in the ending and Lian was trying to revive him. It's rather ambiguous.

» If it IS Syphon Filter 5...

» well..

Probably just looking for a developer with next-gen experience.

And maybe Sony's trying to steal MS secrets~ MWAHAHAHAHA!

» Hell yeah

Gabe Logan is too badass to just get whacked off like that. In SF2, he jumps off a frickin' mountain moments before it gets pelted with rockets, and just dusts himself off like it was nothing.

I thought Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain (SF4 PS2) was really good. It had the same easy control system as the PS1 versions and really good graphics for a PS2 game.

Since when was Gabe dead? and Teresa faked her death at the end of SF2 it was explained in SF3.

I played though all SFs and I don't remember this.

It would be so great if Syphon Filter 5 does happen, the series is one of my favorites.

Even better if they bring back the old PS1 ingame pause menu, classic controls support, and the old voice actor for Gabe!
