Blue Orb has announced that SwitchBlade, an application that lets PC gamers use a console controller to play, will be getting a lot of new features with the advent of SwitchBlade PRO. Foremost is the addition of support for the Sony PlayStation 3's SIXAXIS controller.

SwitchBlade PRO will also come with pre-configured game “Blades” for more than 20 popular games and the new BladeBuilder tool that allows gamers to build and share their own customized game support Blades. Additionally, SwitchBlade PRO introduces the new Texter system that lets gamers send text messages right from their game controllers.

The catch here is that SwitchBlade PRO is not free. It'll be available on a subscription basis for US$ 1.99 a month starting October 1. You can also get a year-long subscription for US$ 19.99.

A subscription?

***** that! I wont pay by month or by year only for a utility application. Free drivers must already exists, and if I want to play with my PS3 remote, I use my *****ing PS3.

What!?

What a ripoff!

IDIOTS!!!

Seriously guys? Yeah, the drivers are out. But the question is, do the games support the game controller. Most games don't even support a basic computer gaming controller. Lets take an MMORPG for example. They don't support controllers. Or some FPS's.

You see thats why this program comes in handy. They make the controllers work in the background. And the reason my they're charging $1.99 a month or $19.99 a year is because of user generated stuff which will probably be coming out a lot. Hell, I'm gonna do it. I want to play Bioshock or Battlefield with a controller.

seconded!

That is retarded. At first glace I was like "Kewl" but paying a subscription is retarded.

WTF!?!?!?!?!

Like everyone else already said, WHY PAY for something that is free. There are TONS of utilities that map kayboard keys to a gamepad.

For example, I played Bioshock with my PS3 controller from day one on my PC.

Xpadder is a well known one:

I won't pay for that, for sure. But It'll surely gonna be posted on torrent websites soon. Please QJ, can you post a news when it pops? =D

..

if you want to play those with a controller, why dont you just get a 360 controller for your pc? you could find one cheaper than you could get that retarded subscription.

by vaelrandi - 2008-09-26 07:28
Yes

I use my SIXAXIS with a program called ControllerMate and it works very well. I think the cost is $15.

WTF!?!?!?!?!

Well, just the controller isn't good enough. Some games do not support a controller at all. This software bridges that gap. But as already noted, that software exists and is free.
