Surreal To Produce An Original Mind Blowing PS3 Game? |
Ó
Is Surreal Software, the development studio owned by Midway Games, which gave us the classic franchises Drakan (PC/PS2), The Lord of the Rings (PC, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360) and The Suffering (PS2/Xbox), coming up with a new title for the PS3? IGN seems to think so.No details were given, not even the genre, but the company described the upcoming project as "Midway's biggest titles under development" and "a concept which will blow you away." These were taken from statements posted on Surreal's website job section under the position of Senior Associate Producer. The site also said the position is a chance "to be the keystone of a large and experienced development team". Under another position (Associate Gameplay Programmer), Surreal said it was looking for a person to develop a "game-specific source base of our top secret non-franchise, non-sequel project".
The project hasn't even started and we're already revved up.

non-franchise, non-sequel is so rare...
But there are no words for a ps3 programmer maybe the next project is xbox360 only...who knows?
You may not remember it, but all of gamming since the NES has been plagued by sequels after sequels. You may remember all the single franchise hits, but many of those led to sequals and then to more sequals. Y's went to 9 at the least, Final fantasy is on 12, Mario is on what? 8/9 not including the spin offs, chrono trigger had a sequal, metal slug, bramuta triangle for the nes had one, so did light warriors, lemmings, and zombie ate my neighbors. If its a good game that becomes popular then theyll keep making it till it runs into the ground, theyve done it for a long time. Its nothing new. All that has changed is the volume of games being released (how many of those new ip(op, to early) are there that you easily over look?).
Who wouldn't say the game that they are making will be the most Mind Blowing Thing You Will Ever Know or Will Know!!!!! As long as it good what does it matter what number follows it. I'm looking forward to Doom 18 when it comes out!
