SIXAXIS vs. DualShock

It was the comparison that was bound to happen: what makes the PS3's light, supple and motion-sensitive SIXAXIS controller so special compared to the PS2's experienced,  full-bodied, and rumbliscious DualShock pad? With that in mind, the guys over at IGN have taken the liberty of taking these two lovelies, and in the following images, have made them naked for the comparison of their internal workings.

We've already mentioned somebody opening up their SIXAXIS, but this one should provide for a more detailed description of the working components of the SIXAXIS, as compared to the DualShock. First up are pics of the preliminary disassembly.

The next set of pics are on the controller's battery pack - it's the grey rectangular box.

The next pair are a close-up of the unit's tilt sensor. It's the white chip centered in the shots.

Lastly, we have a series of pics comparing the wiring from the DualShock and the SIXAXIS.

i know rumble would be nice , but wouldnt it make the six axis malfunction? wouldnt the vibrations confuse it?

some people just dont think with common sense, if it still has rumble feature then using the sixaxis motion sensor will be a pain in the a-s-s, assume your playing warhawk, when you fire your missiles you'll feel the rumble of the missile launch then disrupt the flight control. if you want rumble then go buy a rumbling chair via subwoofer sound. by the way, motion sensing feels awkward on motorstorm demo. a real forcefeedback wheel will be very welcomed.

The wiimote has rumble and it doesn't affect the tilt sensing one bit. So where is your logic now?

Dumbass.
