She was Snow White, she was Superman's love interest, and now she's a Street Fighter. The lovely Kristine Kreuk shows she can be all as she takes on the lead role in the latest Street Fighter movie, The Legend of Chun-Li.

She's got some The Matrix moves going on right there, but still nary a hair out of place. Regardless of whether or not fanboys find this cheesy or an atrocity, one thing's certain, she's looking hawt. Too bad the trailer didn't have much closeup shots of her. Am sure you boys would have loved that.

The big, burly guy from The Green Mile, Michael Clarke Duncan, also joins the cast as Balrog, while Neil McDonough breathes life into the character of Bison. Here, why don't you check out the English vid yourself?

The film will come out simultaneously with the launch of Capcom's Street Fighter 4 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) in March of 2009.

*sigh*

They didn't learn their lesson the 1st time. Stick to the original story. It's what made the franchise successful in the 1st place. Kristine Kreuk's hotness can't save this.

I won't watch it for the story...

...enough Kristine Kreuk hotness can make me forget that the movies sucks..hahaha

by rollypoly - 2009-01-13 19:19:31
story?

the street fighter games never had that much story... and the first movie wasn't bad because it deviated from whatever story there was... it was bad because it tried to be a fighting game movie... mortal kombat got it right because they kept the over the top fighting to a minimum.

typo

movies -> movie

Cammy!!!!!!!

That white chick is Cammy right?!!! (at 00:39) I love Cammy. Kristine Kreuk's hot but I don't see her as a good Chun-Li. Lucy Liu would look better. Kristine's face isn't tough looking enough.

...

The SF universe has a LOT of story, you have to look in media beyond just the game to read it all. There are countelss publications that go indepth into in JP that never see the light of day here. And im not even talking about the anime, and comics, which makes variations on the official story.

by hush404 - 2009-01-13 21:11:42
I agree with Ninjiz

(tho that is an odd name). There's a ton of story in the street fighter universe from games, anime series + movies, manga + comics and so on - there's not just "ONE STORY" as it were. It's nice to see some known names tho and not just a hash of b-actors.... and hey! It can't be worse that what Dragonball looks to offer. BTW - Raul Julia will never be replaced as M.Bison, he's like what heath ledger was to the joker.

where?

wait, where's Captain Sawada?

by rollypoly - 2009-01-14 00:18:56
meh

this is the legend of chun-li, so i can accept that life hasn't made her look tough just yet...

by rollypoly - 2009-01-14 00:25:26
@Ninjiz

notice is said "street fighter games"... i know all about the universe, but i don't consider that original story... like most star wars books are not considered part of the official canon.

it feels

weird too see that kristine do, just because she is a girl.

by superjake - 2009-01-14 05:34:55
Weird...

I managed to watch that whole trailer and yet the only character I can recognise is Chun Li? And why is it about her and her "legend" anyway? Everyone knows that with Street Fighter all you care about is Ryu, Ken and Akuma shooting fireballs at eachother!

by Rei64 - 2009-01-14 06:26:10
Lucy Liu?

nah i think kristin kruek is a good choice. chun li shouldn't look tough at this point in the story and im sure they could make her look so with make up. there were a few episodes of smallville where kristin kruek had to do martial arts and it looked pretty good so i expect at least her performance to look good in that aspect. lucy liu is great but im not a big fan of the way she does martial arts in movies. i think this movie will be decent...i think if we keep our expectations low..we might be pleasantly surprised.

by avatar76 - 2009-01-14 06:53:24
LMAO

Well said. Though I don't think shooting fireballs at each other would make for a very interesting plotline. Hadoken Hadoken Hadoken Hadoken Hadoken *Five hours later* Hadoken Shinkyu HADOKEN!! Ryu Wins! :)

by Power_Surge - 2009-01-14 14:05:10
What what?

It's going to be just another dumb action movie with "Street Fighter" attached to it to attract SF fans...

by CloudX - 2009-01-14 17:11:06
nonono.....

you need ryu ken and akuma (sagat m.bison and gile can work too..as long as van dam isn't in there) o make a street fighter movie.. the only thing legendary about chung li is her legs... an i didn't see them in the trailer... no hadokens no hurricane kicks.. no sales...

by sesa - 2009-01-14 17:17:40
Neil McDonough

at the very least of an effort for characterization, Neil McDonough can paint his hair black. But Noo,

I was thinking the same thing. Looks nothing like Bison.

by Alcantara617 - 2009-01-15 01:25:18
am i the only

one who thinks this might be a good movie, maybe i'm jus too optimistic but i believe this might be good

by superjake - 2009-01-15 04:55:32
:P

Hahaha I'd still watch it though! And most Street Fighter fans would too! :P
