Strategy Analytics: The PS3 pawnage by 2012 |

The Wii and the PS3 have already been launched in the US, and now that the next gen console triumvirate is completed, analysts are on a roll with their predictions on how Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft will deliver in the coming weeks. Questions such as, "Who will win the next gen console war?" are buzzing in research firms and everyone seems to have their take on the matter.One such research firm is Strategy Analytics, and they predict that Sony will still dominate the gaming realm, just as the PlayStation and PS2 dominated the market before.
They say that by 2012, Sony will sell 121.8 million units, Xbox 360 will "come in less than half that, with 59.7 million units sold," while Nintendo will only sell 23.3 million units.
They also say that a lot of pressure's on Microsoft right now, with the PS3 and Wii now out in the market (errr... as if we don't know about that already). Anyway, although common sense tells me that Microsoft's under pressure (just like Ninty and Sony, by the way) as of now, I'm quite interested as to how did this company come up with their figures. After all, you can't get exact numbers just by consulting your little magic ball, don't you?

thats wuld be totaly corect but Xbox has a lot of fanboy i dont think x wuld do 1/2 mabey 3/4 that wuld be likly the wii in y mind wuld only stay this way since the only reason its hyped is one of the best nin game Zelda(this game rules) but afterwards thers no fire to keep nin brnen

Do you check what you write before sending it 234? Seriously...that's almost undreadable. I think these guys are WAYYYY off. The ps3 is $600...so they expect people to have bouth 121 million in....6 years? So basically that's 20 million a year. This year they won't even have 4 million out. So they expect sony to produce over 115 million in the next 5 years? I don't know... erm...who predicted this again?
everyweek we be getting 100.000 units and at the end of year sony we be getting 800.000 but we dont know yet
the price wont be 600 forever so always take that into consideration.

this is only lame predictions who knows if the figures are accurate.. maybe they're guessing like how the current gen consoles were sold.. how lame can that be..
2012... i plan on having a newer console by then.. that and the world will be in some cataclysmic shock (mayan predictions here!!) lol
There is no way that thing will sell 121 million. The graphics suck. I do not know a single person that bought that hunk of junk!
For some reason...I find it hard to swallow such a large figure as far as PS3 sales go. Seriously, that's a lot of units for a system that is not only vastly more expensive than the other two, but also rather expensive to manufacture.
I'm actually seeing Sony and Nintendo both passing Microsoft...but who knows...it really depends if Sony can get back their fanbase after all the dissappoinments and listen to what the people want. Nintendo will sell, I can't deny. I only see the 360 as an upgraded Xbox. Fresher Live setup and better graphics. It seems to just do good because it has all the games and the fact that it's been out for a year and everyone got tired of waiting.
But we'll see...I think by 2008...the race will have evened out some...
