Stranglehold movie on the way - Image 1

Stranglehold, the video game which served as a sequel to the 1992 John Woo movie Hard Boiled, is getting a movie adaptation, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Pretty meta huh. Anyway, few games deserve a movie as much as Stranglehold (360, PS3) does.

No details on whether the project will include either John Woo or even Chow Yun-Fat, but we do have word that it will be penned Jeremy Passmore and Andre Fabrizio. This should also be good news for Midway, who'll probably benefit from the licensing fees. The studio's been taking serious financial blows lately so this might solve some of their problems.

how can stranglehold deserve a movie more than games like: Metal gear solid, Halo, Resistance, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Fallout....STAR WARS FORCE UNLEASHED (which i would rather it be a movie than a game anyways because the story was so darn good.)

"Few games deserve a movie" so it's not the only one I have in mind. And I do agree that the games you mentioned are part of those few.

stranglehold was meant to be a sequel to hard boiled, A MOVIE. it was chow yun fat. it has john woo. those three things make it instantly more deserving than halo, resistance, bioshock, mass effect or fallout

MGS should get a movie, halo+no it was the same thing all the way through the games so the movie would be repetitive, resistance would be pretty kool, bioshock+no, mass effect+no, fallout +maybe, they wont make a new star wars movie but it would be kool to do the unleashed story. Killzone needs a movie! stranglehold not sure if it deserves a movie tho... what bout God of War? it might be a bad idea to make movies from games due to the epic failure of Street fighter

If it isn't directed by John Woo, and doesn't star Chow Yun Fat, I'm not watching it.

And the game was a sequel to an actual movie from like 91' or 92', called Hard Boiled. That's why this adaptation makes sense.
