Star Ocean: The Last Hope - Image 1

I imagine that quite a few PS3 owners grew hopeful when a PS3 version of Star Ocean: The Last Hope was spotted on GameFly a couple of days back. Is the Xbox 360 exclusive JRPG finally crossing over to the Sony console? Square Enix says it was all a mistake.

Square Enix reps say that the GameFly listing was nothing but an error. Of course, the hardcore hopeful can still hold on to this interestingly phrased statement about plans for a PS3 version of the game: "We cannot comment on a PS3 release at this time." So when's the right time? TGS?

The reps also said that the GameFly listing has since been taken down, but when I checked while writing this post it was still there although searching for it doesn't yield any results. GameFly, on the other hand, seems to stand by the listing, saying that they "simply post information as it is supplied to [them] by publishers."

Cant say I'm sad about since some guys here and some websites say the game is not that good...but it does kinda sucks cuz it was gonna be another 360-ps3 port

» It's not...

All Star Ocean games are mediocre. This game is no exception. I hated the way the feature the disc swapping in this game(if you have a 360 you'll know what I mean). Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon are the 2 RPGs that's not Fallout 3 that this gen got and both will never be ported to PS3(sorry PS3 only owners).

But there are a lot of fans for this game though. I guess they enjoy the crappy storyline, voice acting and corny scenes.

Whoops...Tails of Vesperia is good too.

» idk about all star ocean games

This one is definitely below average, but Till the End of Time for the PS2 was a pretty damn good game IMO

Atleast the PS3 is only getting the decent 360 RPG titles. Tales of Vesperia for example.

If you want good RPG titles though, you'll already have older systems, however if you want a newer system with good RPGs, you won't go with a Wii, 360, or PSP.

This gen, the DS and PSP are havens for good RPG titles. Exclusive titles like Crimson Gem Saga, Jeanne D'Arc, Wild ARMs XF, Tales of the World Radiant Mythology, Radiant Mythology 2, and Brave Story, as well as ports like Star Ocean First Departure(remak e,) Star Ocean Second Evolution, Valkyrie Profile, Breath of Fire 3, Tales of Eternia, etc, for the PSP. Or DS exclusive titles like Suikoden Teirkesis, Black Sigil, Dragon Quest Monsters Joker, Retro Game Challenge(Guadi a Quest,) and Valkyrie Profile, or ports like Final Fantasy 4, Dragon Quest 4, and Dragon Quest 5.

There are more RPGs on both systems, some good, some crap, though the PSP has alot more that are good. Plus all the RPGs coming out later for the PSP like Valkyria Chronicles and Half-Second Hero(Yuusha 30.) Unfortunately not many RPGs or interesting games in general seem to be coming out for the DS at a later time aside from Golden Sun.
