Square Enix Shaping An FFXI Version for PS3, Vista?

Hey, I'm being nostalgic here, bear with me. Remember the good news-bad news-ugly news jokes we all used to share with our friends? Let me try using that format in this news post of mine (Like I said, please bear with me, and no, I'm not stoned, or maybe just a little from watching Scary Movie 4).

Good news: Square Enix, Zeus of the legend that is Final Fantasy, is currently working on a new MMORPG for the also-in-the-works next-gen console PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's latest (forever upcoming) OS, Vista.

Bad News: Square Enix's bigwigs immediately shot down any expectation of its release coinciding with the Sony's new system's November launch.

Ugly News: Xbox 360 owners are apparently once again left wanting as Square Enix remain mum about any future venture for MS's next-gen system.

A lot are wondering if the upcoming game is will be another extension to the Final Fantasy series; would it be a series of its own, or would it just be a mere expansion/update. It might be a totally different game, or it might be something that's derived from the FFS, only with a few changes. My best guess is, that it'll be a game, by Square Enix, playable in PS3 and Vista, and it won't be done by November.

» what?

I hate FF11 period. That and FF10 ruined the series in my opinion.

You should grow up.

@Vecha: Sounded like a joke to me

I think that SE may have learned their lesson with FF11, so maybe we can see some faster Gameplay.

» erm...

I don't know, but expecting a series with different creators to keep to their roots is kinda more childish:P

in my opinion, FF9 F'ed it up, FF10 kinda made you wonder

and FF11 just confused you.

and NO. square enix won't make gameplays faster....LOL

I just wish FF Crystal Chronicles 2 to come out on the launch of Revolution

» i suppose...

" but expecting a series with different creators to keep to their roots is kinda more childish"

hmm I forgot about the different creator part...

but they should learn from ff11...

» um...

Well Final Fantasy XI still has over 500,000 players so I don't think SE messed up on it in anyway. Every FF title has had haters, I know people who hate FFVII but think FFX is the best.

» Vista is gonna blow...

If anyone else has looked at what the system requirements of Vista are goign to be, it makes sense for game publishers not to want to put their games on it... M$ has said that it will take a lot of Graphical Memory and RAM many are assuming from what has been said and displayed by M$ that it will require upwards of 2GB or RAM and 256 or 512 GFX..

by Vecha - 2006-04-19 13:01
» link please?

I have only seen that it may require 1 gig of ram.

There are people that are in the beta of vista and it requires much less then 2 gigs.

by the time vista is widely used people will have way more then even 2 gigs.

FFXI killed the final fantasy name for me.

the games before that, yah they were made for the game, and players.

but FFXI was made to exploit a genre and to make alot of cash off of the Final Fantasy name while at the same time shipping a shoddy product that is not fun to play.

FFX2 i havent played, but i hear is awful as well.

its sad how FF is dying, i hope that Square finds a way to revive it again, and with the power it had when it was FFV.
