Of the 100,000 Blu-ray copies of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete sold in Japan during its first day, at least one of those would have been ripped digitally and leaked into the Internet already. Square Enix knows that, and they're sure tightening the noose on ACC piracy.

In a recent press release, they said that they're closely monitoring websites and other avenues where a digital copy of their feature-length CG movie is being distributed illegally. Already, certain websites - they didn't specify which - have been red flagged and they're keeping a close eye on what's going on in them.

Parties which are held liable to transgressions may receive a letter or email from Square Enix. If pursued, they may eventually take legal action, no doubt. I mean, Square Enix, after all, has been quite stingy of their Intellectual Property rights. Remember what happened to the Korean company that imitated Tifa's fight scene for a music video? Yeah, there you go.

» F-ing Squeenix...

Besides the fact that this movie sucked(except for the fight scenes) many people probably already owns the non-"complete" version. Of course they're going to pirate unless they really can't wait for FFXIII and want the demo or what ever else is included because they are huge fans of FFVII.

F-ing FFVII fanboys because you all buy this crap Squeenix made one of the best RPG look like crap. I just wanted a remake but with all the additional plots even I don't want that anymore.

» So..

You've seen it but you hate it? Wait, what's your beef exactly? What's wrong with FF7 fans? I like FF7, maybe I don't love it as much as say Valkyrie Profile. So I'm not a fanboy of FF7 but I do support it. Problem with most game fans is they expect these companies to make 400 games a year. Hell if we had our way we'd have remakes of all of SE's games. Yumm PS3 Chrono Trigger, but I won't even think about that. I personally would rather have this kind of stuff for FF8, but I don't go around talking about how dumb I think this or that game they make is dumb. And if you're talking about an FF7 remake, BUYING THIS ULTIMATELY TELLS THEM YOU WANT IT. DUH. Money talks.

Back on topic. Good for SE taking their own actions against piracy. Honestly if they can keep the HD version off the internet + more sales when this bad boy comes stateside. They know we've seen this movie at least once so they have keep it from popular download sites lol.

This doesn't tell them anything like that. It just tells game companies its okay to milk a good game till its nothing but nostalgiac dust in sad winds. Fans liked something a lot, Square saw that a lot of people still gushed over Seph/Cloud and decided to go and feed that gushing and wound up make a self generating hype machine where people would say "I love FFVII" Square would tell you you loved FFVII even more by releasing games with FFVII in the title and it evolved into an FFVII universe. Rather than focus on new IPs or other things they stuck with that money printing hype machine to generate cash.

So no, buying the DVD doesn't show you're supporting FFVII and wont let them know you want a remake. Its just helping to give them money which is all well and good but I personally don't care for the movie. I'd buy it for the FFXIII demo alone but other than that I'll probably get my copy at the pirate bay.

On another note, I don't hate FFVII fans since I am a fan, I just hate this whole hype thats around it for no good reason. (its almost as annoying as the Ocarina of Time D**K riders but I'm too big of a Zelda fan to care) I'm glad ACC is the last of the FFVII related things.

» I don't know...

I see your point and agree with you for the most part. But if you think about the kind of time and foremost, the money they'd need for a remake, it doesn't hurt to pick up a copy of this. I just think fans (and not just SE/FF fans) overreact when they don't get exactly what they want. I wish companies listened solely to their fanbase, but they don't. They ultimately listen to their bosses, and yes their wallets. You are right though, they have milked this long enough, but this is a far superior blu-ray copy. I don't see the hype around it as a bad thing. I mean this is 2009,and FF7 came out in like 1997? Without the hype/spin-offs, they can't really draw in new fans can they? I mean think about it most of us who enjoyed FF7 were teens/pre-teens when FF7 came out. That puts most of us in our 20s now. SE can't rely solely on aging fans to purchase a remake of something we played 12 years ago.

» One more thing.

You kind of act as though this is ALL SE is doing. You say they're milking this franchise, but the last thing I can recall besides this Blu-Ray copy, of FF7 was Crisis Core. Last Remnant, Dissidia are two new IPs (take away the FF prefix in Dissidia and consider it fresh). Beyond that, if you look at the FF games in general they're technically not sequels either. Hell I think the DS port of Chrono Trigger was dumb of SE, but at least this has extra scenes and full 1080p visuals. Why are fans so pessimistic all the time? *shrugs*
