SplitFish answers Sony: I thought we were friends

SIXAXIS - Image 1 When SplitFish GameWare announced the other day that they're integrating force feedback into SIXAXIS, SCEA's Dave Karakker answered immediately that no one in SCEA has been in touch with SplitWare.

Anyway, to avoid further confusion, SplitWare's President Ken Tetterington released some statements regarding the matter. He clarified that the company actually has a very amiable relationship with Sony. And then the official explained:

We have met recently and continue discussions with Sony Computer Entertainment of America specifically related to SplitFish's upcoming PS3 gaming technology portfolio. However, SCEA have not, as they have stated, yet seen our very recent force feedback technology.

Tetterington added that SplitFish is willing to work with Sony to provide a win-win solution for PS3 owners. We're not certain what's up with third party accessories developers. It was just yesterday when Dragon Electronics mentioned that it will be releasing its own controller with a force feedback feature.

Maybe they remember Hideo Kojima's words back in November and they couldn't help but agree.

Sony may still be entertaining other companies who could build a 360 controller for them.

Ill offer a trade to Sony:

Microsoft will allow sony to build a controller with the same smooth look and feel of the much better XBOX 360™ Wireless Controller™

Sony will allow Zootfly to continue production of Ghostbusters, and will make it available for both consoles.

Adding force-feedback would be BAD. ONE, they would have to recall all controllers, and send the new controllers out to these PS3 controller owners.

TWO, That would cost Time and Money that Sony doesnt have.

THREE, Peripherals NEVER *****ing do well.....

OMFG, people are inconsiderate douches these days that they cant face the facts. Make something that will acutally sell, and doesnt need Sonys Consent (Other than the acutaly license to use it with the console)

Got that *****?

speak for yourself. the Xbox controllers are pieces of ****. and no, i am not trying to flame anyone,im just stating what i truly believe. ive owned the original xbox and i will agree it was a great console. but their controllers (and the 360 as well) is way too big for comfort and ease. the Playstation controller has been around since PS1 and it's contour shape has been working perfectly for 10+ years. if it aint broke...dont fix it...

Lets see, for ONE: do you remember the PS1? it first came without analog nubs and rumble. But as time went on they were released and saturated the market. Only a small percentage of the PS1 owners over the next few years even had the original ps1 controllers.

Two: Time and money can always be reevaluated and moved around to suit profitable needs. Right now Sony doesnt need to make the PS3 owners feel screwed so give it another 9 months for FF Sixaxis controllers.

THREE: DDR pads do well, hell they have 100 dollar mats for those games. Eyetoy is a huge hit, so were light guns in the day and still are with the wii. Lets see theres ton that do well, hell look at one and you get another.

And finally, if you want a product to work on Sony product or any other companies product, you have to either hack the info you need and chance it or work around the copyright laws that require you to have Sony's/ any other company than your owns consent. Otherwise you get sued.

# Rumble sucks, IMHOTarget Render 2007-02-03 14:43
My boy (6y) get annoyed by it, when playing GT4.

-Why is it shaking? he asks.

-I don't know son, but the Sixaxis won't!

-Good! he says...

Kojima was the only one using the dual motors right anyway. Rumble was fun back then, now I to get annoyed by it. And DS2 is quite heavy when playing for a very long time, so I'm really looking forward to the Sixaxis.

And my girl(4y) can't controll the cars very well at all, she is leaning with her body and DS2 to turn, and I tell her soon we will get PS3, then you can actually turn like that and it will work. When she hugged me and said -Thanks dad! I thought to myself, thanks Sony, for doing just what my family asks for.

If a Sony employee reads this, THANKS!

Wow, what's the point of arguing on the internet? It doesn't get you anywhere. Smh. Anyways, I don't miss the rumble and I barely remember that it was there when I play.

xbots now early to bash the ps3 news section.

qj should really clean up, restrict people from posting such inappropriate comments.

about the news.. if sony want rumble on sixaxis they could have included it themselves, does splitfish think their technology is better than sony's? and before shouting to the public about such project please confirm that already have Go signal from sony as they have the patent/rights to the ps3.

by golly me, the only games i've liked the rumble feature was with metal gear solid series.

and rumble feature affects the motion sensing feature. so i doubt this combo will be a success.

i think its more of a gimmick coz people wanna experience it. you want it, you will be burned by it.
