Following the announcement of the release date for Fight Night Round 3, we have just gotten our hands on some spanking new screens to add to your already built-up anticipation for the game.

As we've been mentioning in our previous articles, don't expect the PS3 version to be just like the ones for other consoles (Xbox360, PSP, PS2, Xbox), because the PS3 version will showcase a unique gameplay feature set which includes the exclusive "Get in the Ring" mode and, AND, split screen multiplayer brawls! And just looking at the screens, man oh man, you can almost feel the blood and sweat as Ward, Hopkins, and tons of other characters beat the hell out of each other. We doubt fist fighting has ever looked this gooood.

And to clue you in on just how freakin' beautiful the game's gonna look on your PS3s (yes, it won't be long 'til that sweet day comes), why don't we just bring you the blood, sweat, and gore right up in your faces, eh? Here are the spanking new screens we got our filthy hands on. Check them out while we work our uppercuts and jabs, why don'tcha?

» Xbox360 vs PS3

You most know that they worked much longer on ps3 version thats why it looks better . Because the only Differents is a little graphic difrens wich it wont be that much of a difrens and the Blueray nothing more and ps3 cost more but thats the blueray nothing more + xbox 360 will have HD-DVD games so it will be the same and that for the 360 its older than ps3 and not much of a difrens hehe

» *Yawn* Same old clouducla

Typical fanboy reply, where you just can't resist taking pot shots at the competition.

Anyway, EA's technology is improving all the time, such that with each iteration of their games, we're seeing more and more of their next-gen technology (which would have been in developement for years).

EA said early this year that with the technological developements they'll be including in the PS3 version of Fight Night, will make it seem more like Fight Night 4. Hence the improvements.

Fight Night 4 will be a multi-format game from EA, and no doubt will look even better on BOTH consoles.

Yes, the PS3 version has benefitted from the extra developement time, but your point about HD-DVD is incorrect. HD-DVD on the 360 is for movies only, not games (and never will be!).

» Yeah they worked longer on the PS3

Yeah right. That's bs.

Remember E3 2005? That EA was playing a PS3 version on stage. And at that time, it already looks this good. Except when several months later, the 360 version comes out and it looks nothing like the version the EA guy was playing. Then now, finally, they show more of the PS3 version and the PS3 version still looks that good. So more development time my ass. The 360 is just weaker. Accept it. Move on.

The name isn't PS3ONLY4ME, it's PS34ME, which represents my NEXT console purchase, i.e. PS3 for me.

I hope that concept isn't too difficult for you to understand.

» Sure, like how Assassin's Creed will NEVER be on 360!

Remember that dumb statement of yours? Funny how you avoided all Assassin's Creed threads since the 360 announcement was made (not surprising since fanboys are cowards by nature).

Anyway, here's one article which refers to EA's comments about Fight Night on the PS3;

http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId+3146303+did+1

"Don't confuse this with Fight Night on PS3, however. According to EA's Kudo Tsunoda, "The PS3 [version] is going to be a totally different game, just because the Xbox 360 launches before the PS3 launches. So it's going to be much more of a kinda Fight Night 4 PS3 version and Fight Night 3 Xbox 360 version.""

So if you think 8 months after the 360 version will have no effect on the game, even when EA says it will be like a totally different game as a result of the 360 launching before the PS3, then you really are a fool.

by PS34ME - 2006-10-16 08:52
» HD-DVD will not be used for games. FACT!

>"hehe people do you really think that ms wont use hd dvd for games than your spacing"

Do you know the transfer speed of HD-DVD? Blu-ray 1x and HD-DVD 1x has 1/3rd the transfer speed of the DVD 12x drive in the 360, i.e. it's more like DVD 4x.

This is NOT good enough for a next-gen console. Hence Sony HAD to include atleast Blu-ray 2x in the PS3 for it to be useful, and that's exactly what they've done, offering a transfer similar to DVD 8x on average (note: DVD 8x is mentioned in the official PS3 specs).

HD-DVD is still 1x, there should be some HD-DVD 2x available soon, but as far as I'm aware, they are all currently 1x, including the HD-DVD add-on for the 360. Good enough for movies, but not good enough for next-gen gaming.

No announcement has been made that the HD-DVD add-on is one of the first HD-DVD 2x drives on the market, so right now, I believe it's only 1x. If however we find out that the HD-DVD add-on is 2x, then perhaps there's a possibility in future (unlikely, but possible).

If as I suspect it's only 1x, then no way!

» This is funny...

I was just on IGN about ten minutes ago looking at these screens for PS3. Then I though hmm I want to see the difference between these and the 360 version, and to my surprise they have the exact same screens posted in the 360 section! Talk about false advertising LOL. Anyway I agree the extra development time definetly helped get this game looking that good. It's also why I wasn't surprised when they delayed the launch of the PS3. More time means more games at launch and the extra time lets the devs get the games on the level they should be **cough360launchcough** .

» HD-DVD

They Will be using the HD-DVD player just wait M$ is playing smart for now because lets say xbox 360 is using old stuff for 360 you no why because they have let ps3 use the good stuff aka the new TECH so that it would be cant of a problem for them (what cant of a problem) Ps3 is using the newest tech but what the problem is that it costs the game develepers a lot of time and money M$ used the old stuff and its still good and its faster and cheaper to make the games thats what M$ is about now . In the time when everbody knows how PS3 works and it comes cheaper then M$ will olso have the good stuff ready for lets say XBOX 3 so it wont be a problem for game develeping and what not. So that is what M$ did Between PS3 And 360 is not that much of a difrens (And this is the guy speaking that dos not have a 360 but wants the PS3 veryy bad but what M$ did is smart and thats what its all about this days .

» Baby-G = idiot

u are an idiot, enuff said. Where did u get your degree in electrionics ? Just the other day, stuff had be developed to shrink texture sizes for games by 70%, that makes any xbox360 game that is 7 gigs, to about 4-5gigs. Blu-ray IS the biggest mistake the sony made on the PS3, besides the cell processer. And u idioting saying ps3 graphics owns xbox360. The xbox360`s gpu is 512, and the ps3 is 256. IN NO way will the best looking ps3 game own the best looking xbox360 game. Maybe MAYBE, the cell will outpreform the xbox360 cpu, but thats mostly at floating point calcuations, which games are not based on. Games are based on General Purpose calcs.

Please get all your facts before u come up with rubbish. thanks.

by hell ho hell - 2006-10-16 22:16
» LOL at Drak

You read MS statements and come out and spit them as truth.

Do you even know what General Purpose calculations as compared to floating point operations are? I *****ing doubt it.

Yes, the GPU provided in the XBox 360 is superior to the PS3's. Yes, XBox360's CPU is more efficient then PS3's. But thats where it ends. Cell > Xenon. Full stop. End of story. Cell is capable of processing graphics output. By doing so, it can more than match 360.

PS3 as compared to Xbox360, there is little difference, but if either was superior, it would be PS3. You wont tell for 2 years tho anyhow.

» To Baby-G

>"woooow.... who makes assasins creed?... ubisoft.... since when did ubisoft make an exclusive game?"

You don't understand Baby-G, I was addressing SteveTao who FOR MONTHS insisted it was PS3 exclusive and will never be on 360. For example, check out his comments in these threads;

http://ps3.qj.net/Assassin-s-Creed-Still-PS3-Exclusive/pg/49/aid/57917#comments

http://ps3.qj.net/Assassins-Creed-Screenshots/pg/49/aid/61634#comments

>"every game that has come out on both systems either look better or control better on the ps3 due to the SIXAXIS"

RR7 is not RR6, Fight Night for the PS3 is not Fight Night for the 360, so of course there is going to be noticeable improvements. Show me a FUTURE game announced for both 360 and PS3 which looks better on PS3! And as for control, we have no idea until we've tried it!

>"just tell me why the LAUNCH GAMES CROSS PLATFORMS are looking better then the SECOND GEN XBOX GAMES?"

And you call yourself an electrical engineer?

Whether they are looking better or not is a matter of opinion, to me they look on par, however, in case you've forgotten, the PS3 has been delayed by 6-9 months. Heavenly Sword and Resistance were seen running in realtime at E3 2005 when 360 games were being shown running on alpha devkits. So at launch, Resistance would have had 18 months developement time since we first saw it, next year, Heavenly Sword would have had at least 2 years developement time since E3 2005, therefore these games have been in developement for as long as many 360 games!

So quit acting as if PS3 launch games have been created in just 6 months to a year, because they haven't, instead their developement time is similar to that of 2nd gen 360 games. Hence the results.

>"if the xbox had a hd-dvd drive pre installed on all of its systems and used it for games then the xbox would be up there with the ps3"

Firstly, I've already explained why HD-DVD would not be suitable, secondly, the extra space of HD-DVD would not result in better looking games, just as the PS3 games do not look good primarily because of Blu-ray. Thirdly, the 360 is already 'up there' with the PS3.

by CeCiL - 2006-10-16 22:56
» ... wow...

As an avid and proud 360 user, all i have to say is that The PS3 version of this game... *****s all over the 360.

Yeh, they had more time to develop the game but ... let's face it, it wouldn't have looked that good on 360 anyway..

Radsy... your a knob. Justifying the PS3 purchase that doesn't exist? PS3 isn't even out... and these FIRST generation PS3 games slaughter the 360's and well 90% of them slaughter the 360's Second Generation games... Even blind people can see that.

All this 360 vs PS3 crap is useless, they are both very DIFFERENT machines as much as you think they do the same thing, ur wrong.. .The only thing they do is play games, but the way in which you do is obviously different given the fact that PS3 and rightly enough the Wii have EVOLVED gaming to tilt and motion sensing which will have a much more dramatic impact on the market...

At the end of the day it's those of us who play the games and not the hardware that end up the winners and end up laughing at the fanboys.

by PS34ME - 2006-10-16 23:01
» Just to clarify...

I said " in case you've forgotten, the PS3 has been delayed by 6-9 months"

I'm talking about the delay from spring 2006 to November 2006. NONE of the PS3 launch games would have look as good as they do now if the console was launched in the spring as promised.

Instead, they have all had the benefit of 6-9 months extra developement time on FINAL hardware, resulting in many PS3 games being in developement for as long as 2nd gen 360 games.

by PS34ME - 2006-10-16 23:27
» Hmmm

>"Yeh, they had more time to develop the game but ... let's face it, it wouldn't have looked that good on 360 anyway.."

I disagree. Fight Night 4 will be the sequel to FN on 360 and PS3, and I expect it to look even better, on BOTH consoles.

>"and these FIRST generation PS3 games slaughter the 360's and well 90% of them slaughter the 360's Second Generation games... Even blind people can see that."

Well no, they do not 'slaughter' the 360 2nd gen games, they are on par imo.

Also, as I explained above, the 1st gen vs 2nd gen arguement is irrelevent when talking about a delayed console. The PS3 has been delayed by up to 9 months, so it's 1st gen games have been in developement for as long as many 2nd gen 360 games. If the PS3 was delayed by yet another year, the comparison would be even more meaningless (1st gen vs 3rd gen anyone?).

>"At the end of the day it's those of us who play the games and not the hardware that end up the winners and end up laughing at the fanboys."

Not THAT I can agree with, 100% :)

But I would also like to say... Great posts PS34ME!

You seem to be the only one in this thread who knows what he's talking about, applying common sense where others can only apply fanboyism (like the first post).

And good point about HD-DVD also. I hadn't realised the transfer speed was that low, but I checked the speeds on blu-ray.com/faq and you seem to be right. So now it makes even more sense of why MS decided not to use HD-DVD for games, or include it as standard in the 360 console.

» Can't be done on the 360. Scrivener pwnded my ***

Remember E3 2005? The "rendered" PS3 demo. Well, now we know that it wasn't rendered at all. It was actually gameplay! That was May 2005 so the 360 version had plenty of time to at least look as good as the e3 demo but it couldn't do that. :(

So the PS3 version not only matched the E3 demo but improved on it significantly. I bought a 360 1 month ago and I'm so pissed now.

Scrivener pwned me and every other 360 backer. I want to thank him, at least he tried to stop me from making a big mistake.

Regardless of whether or not you think the extra graphical power is due to extra development time or not the average joe public gamer will look at the difference and think that the 360 is under powered.

It's such a joke trying to say that this looks anything like the 360 version. :(

by Baby-G-Unit - 2006-10-17 06:50
» Aaah

360:

512 shared between the GPU and CPU

and

PS3:

256 seperate for the GPU only

256 seperate for the CPU only

It gives the 360 somewhat of an advantage with quickly ported multiplatform games but probably in no other instance.

Just look at Fight Night Round 3. LMAO

What are you talking about, that was a REALTIME tech demo shown at E3 2005. It was NOT pre-rendered.

Get your facts right please.
