Sony trademarks "PlayStation Arc" in Japan

arc_f Sony's motion wand has gone without a name since its E3 demo, but with the latest trademark spotted by Siliconera, it appears we're finally closing in on a name. As the filing would have it, Sony has trademarked "PlayStation Arc" in Japan.

Through the long stretch of the name-finding, we've seen three single-syllable names for the motion controller. "Sphere" was heard back in TGS 09, then it was "Gem", but after that was all debunked, things are now pointing to Arc.

Hopefully this time, Sony would have mercy on bloggers all over that have to re-tag all those PS3 motion controller posts.

erm... I know what Arc means in its many meanings...

I'm not talking about a word that describes the object for a name... I'm just saying using the phrase(or just the word Arc) "Playstation Arc" to name a gaming peripherals sounds terrible. Regardless of its direct meaning on the peripheral in question.

Exactly.

BTW I think the Arc shape will get changed based on what happened on the original ps3 controller concept (the boomerang) after it got bashed on over the internet.

Again u might feel sorry for what u wished for instead of a ergonomically and comfortable to hold design.

why oh why did the light have to be pink out of all of the colours in the spectrum. at least they could have chosen green or blue.

well they asked for it they could have at least made it rectangular so as to cast off any suspicion but no they chose a cylinder with a bright pink ball on top.

Ummm....clearly nobody knows about the motion controller! First of all, the sphere can light other than pink.....and the fact that there is a sphere at the end allows the PSEye to better track the motion controller! Check the link for more technical stuff~
